New Haven, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University softball team split a pair of games with Le Moyne College in a Thursday afternoon Northeast-10 Conference double-header. The Owls won game one 3-1 then lost the second 8-0.

In the bottom of the inning the Owls reacted with some runs of their own. Senior Courtney Miniter (Branford, Conn.) drew a walk to start the inning and advanced to second as Monica Savarese (Orange, Conn.) hit a single up the middle. Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week selection, Megan Caporossi (Northford, Conn.) came up big for the Owls once again, recording her fifth triple of the season with a line drive to right center.  Caporossi earned two RBIs on the hit and put the Owls up 2-1.Â
In the bottom of the seventh inning the Dolphins threatened the Owls' defense with two hits, including a double by pinch hitter Caylinn Christopherson. But Owls' pitcher Jessica Dempsey (Stratford, Conn.) struck out the last two batters to end the game.
