SYRACUSE, NY. - Whitney Vecchio (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown) scored six second-half goals to lead the Dolphins to victory over Siena 14-6 at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The win moves Le Moyne to 8-4, 3-0 on the season and places them atop the MAAC standings. Siena falls to 3-7, 2-1 with the loss.
Siena scored five of the first six goals and took a 6-2 lead in to halftime. Alexander Kain registered three first half goals, while Amy Schoonmaker tallied two for the Saints. After the intermission, Le Moyne exploded for 12 second half goals while the defense shutout the Saints and only yielded one Siena shot in the final 30 minutes.
Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, NY / Marcellus) started the Dolphin rally in the second half with her first of two goals on the afternoon. Vecchio scored seven minutes later to pull the Dolphins within two goals. Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee) poured in the go-ahead goal with 10:14 remaining in the game. From that point, the Dolphins pulled ahead with seven goals over the final 9:08 to seal the victory.
Joining Vecchio and Keegan in the scoring column were Emily Donnells (Penn Yan, N.Y. /Penn Yan) two goals, Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) two goals, Meghan Burgoon (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) one goal, and Lauren Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y. /Bishop Luden) one goal. Kylie Rosette (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown) dished out four assists on the day. Samantha Falcone (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) picked up her eighth win of the season while saving two shots.
Le Moyne next returns to action on Saturday, April 7th against Vermont at 11:00 AM. This game will be played at Solvay High School
