Syracuse, N.Y.-The Dolphins get back on track as they swept the Franklin Peirce Ravens in their doubleheader today at home. The Dolphins shut the Ravens out in the first game of the doubleheader 11-0 behind Le Moyne's bats and Caylinn Christophersen's power pitching. The Dolphins took the tail end game of the double header 13-2 by the mercy rule. The sweep brings the Dolphins to 24-8 overall 11-1 in the NE-10.
In the first game of the day the Dolphins came out swinging scoring three runs in the first inning. Sarah Reed started the team off with a single to left field putting the Dolphins up by one. Schweikert followed with a two run RBI to left center as the Dolphins ended the first inning 3-0. Emma Murphy managed to give the Dolphins another run in the second with her double to center field. In the bottom of the third the Dolphins broke away with a seven run inning. The first game ended by the mercy rule with a score of 11-0.
Christophersen earned the win improving her record to 5-3. Caitlin O'Neill lead the team as she went two for two in the game with three RBI's. Reed followed by batting three for four and also having three RBI's.
In game two the Dolphins came out strong scoring eight runs in the first inning. Danielle VanGorder got the Dolphins going as she started game two with a two run home run. Reed then followed with another home run giving the Dolphins a 3-0 lead. Kelly Schweikert's double to right center gave the Dolphins two more runs as Kortney Meadows ended their run with a two run homer. The Dolphins would score three more runs before Franklin Peirce could manage to put a run on the board in the top of the third making the score 11-1. The Ravens put their last run on the board in the top of the fourth, but the Dolphins would comeback scoring two more runs giving the Dolphins their second win of the day. Game two also ended by the Mercy rule with a score of 13-2
Katelyn Fowler earned her second win this season in game two striking out five in three and a third innings of play. VanGorder and Meadows both had three RBI's as Schweikert went three for three with two RBIs. Reed and VanGorder hit their fourth home run of the season while Meadow hit her first in game two.
