BRIAN COST NETS FIVE GOALS IN 16-3 VICTORY OVER PACE

SYRACUSE, NY – Senior Brian Cost scored five goals and assisted on two others in leading Le Moyne to a 16-3 victory over Pace on Tuesday at the Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (10-0, 7-0 NE-10) used a strong second half to outscore Pace (6-5, 3-3 NE-10) 10-1 over the final 30 minutes.

The Setters would strike first with an unassisted goal by Jake Sheppard to take an early 1-0 advantage. Goals from Alex Bily and Brian Cost closed out the quarter for the Dolphins and gave them a 2-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.

Nick Gatto scored his first of three goals on the afternoon on an assist from Keith Vetter two minutes into the second quarter to push the Dolphin lead to 3-1. A man-up goal by T.J. Urban closed the gap to 3-2 for Pace. Vetter added two goals and Brad Wolken added another to increase the Dolphin lead to 6-3 heading into the intermission.

Le Moyne would take control of the game in the third period. Keyed by the play of face-off specialist Brian Griffin, the Dolphins recorded seven straight goals to open the second half. Griffin, who ranks second in the country in face-off percentage, won 14-of-18 face-offs and collected 13 groundballs to add to his goal to open the period.

Goals by Gatto, Cost and Markus Fallico in the fourth period secured the 16-3 victory. The win marked the 21st consecutive victory for the Dolphins.

Doug McIver, the nation's leader in goals against average, earned his 10th win of the season in goal for the Dolphins as recorded six saves in just less than 54 minutes of play.

Le Moyne hosts their final regular season home game on Saturday, April 19th when they take on Southern New Hampshire at 1:00 PM.
