SOFTBALL CONTINUES TO ROLL WITH 10-2, 6-2 SWEEP OF ST. ANSELM

MANCHESTER, N.H.- Winner of 13 straight and 29 of their last 31, the Le Moyne College softball team continued to roll taking two road games from St. Anselm on Friday. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 34-8 on the season and a league-best 21-1. St. Anselm falls to 19-16-1, 13-12-1 in the NE-10.

In game one, the Dolphins jumped on the board early with four runs in the top half of the first as Caitlin O'Neill, Emma Murphy, Jennifer Farrelly and Kim Baker all drove in a run. Adding one more in the second, Le Moyne's Danielle VanGorder drove in Bailey Phillips to increase the Dolphin lead to 5-0. Senior Sarah Reed pitched five strong innings to earn her 10th win of the season as she scattered eight hits, allowed one earned run and struck out two. The offense was led by Phillips who connected for four hits on five plate appearances to drive in one run and score twice. VanGorder and Reed both collected three hits each and scored two runs.

After a Dolphin run in the top half of the first inning, St. Anselm responded with two runs capitalizing on defensive miscues to grab a 2-1 advantage. That was all St. Anselm would get on the day as the Dolphins pushed across four runs in the second and added one more insurance run in the sixth to capture the 6-2 victory.

That would be all freshman Jenna Vanacore need in the circle as she picked as she improved her record t 10-0 on the year. Vanacore pitched 5.1 innings allowing three hits and struck out eight in the victory. As in game one, Reed collected three hits and drove in two runs. Farrelly connected for three hits and one RBI as she pitched the final 1.2 innings of relief.

Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, April 26th as they travel to take on Merrimack in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
