BASEBALL'S LATE INNING HEROICS FALL SHORT AS SIENA NIPS 'PHINS 12-11

LOUDONVILLE, NY. – Despite Chris Edmondson's two-out three run triple in the bottom of the ninth to give the Le Moyne a 11-10 lead, the Dolphins fell 12-11 after Siena rallied for two in the bottom of the ninth. Le Moyne falls to 21-19 on the season. Led by Moises Rivera's four hits and three RBI, Siena improves to 19-24.

Robby Perez sparked the offense to a first inning run for the third consecutive game as he reached on a bunt single. Perez moved to third on a double by Chris Edmondson to improve his hitting streak to 17 games. He would later score on a wild pitch.

The Saints responded the bottom half of the first with three runs highlighted by Eric Mruczek's two-RBI single to center field. Following a Siena RBI sac fly in the second, the Dolphins struck for two runs in the third on hits from Corey O'Neill and Sean Paino. Le Moyne backed that up by taking a 5-4 lead in the fourth with an RBI double by Phil St. Amant.

Le Moyne extended their lead to 6-4 in the top of the sixth on a RBI single by Edmondson to plate Dell Valle. Following three-plus innings of scoreless relief by Brandon Otto, the Saints touched up Luke Nellis for two runs in the seventh on a Mosies Rivera two-run home run to left field.

Siena broke the game open in the bottom half of the eight. Putting two runners on via base on balls, Siena scored the go ahead run on an infield single to short stop. The Saints added two more on a Dolphin error and pushed the lead to 10-6 on a sacrifice fly by Rivera.

The Dolphins would rally in the bottom of the ninth. Chris Murphy reached base on a single and later scored on base hit by Matt Nandin. The 'Phins loaded the bases with two outs and Chris Edmondson delivered a clutch triple down the right field line to plate three runs and tie the game at 10-10. Le Moyne took the lead at 11-10 on a wild pitch by reliever Dan Lazzaroni.

Mruczek led off the ninth with a double for the Saints. After a pinch runner, Kevin Quaranto's single through the right side platted the tying run at 11-11. Rick Seltzer's only hit came in the ninth inning as he delivered a single to left field scoring the winning run.

Le Moyne will return to action on Wednesday, April 30th as they travel to face Binghamton University at 4:00 PM.
