ITHACA, NY-The Le Moyne Dolphins snapped a two game losing streak defeating the Cornell Big Red 11-5 at Hoy Field. The Dolphins improve to 10-14 with the win, sending the Big Red to 6-11, (0-2). The game would head into extra innings tied 5-5. It was sophomore Chris Edmondson who would initiate the Dolphins offensive power surge with a leadoff triple to right center field in the top of the tenth inning. Edmondson's triple sparked a six run attack. Freshman Jeff Tardiff would pick up the win in relief with his 3.1 innings of work, only allowing four hits on two runs. Freshman Mike Carrol would receive the loss.
The Dolphins scattered eighteen hits, pushing eleven across the plate in the contest. Eight Dolphins would contribute multi-hit games. The Dolphins would head into the seventh inning knotted at three. Junior Matt Nandin would drive across the go ahead run with a sacrifice flie to right center, scoring sophomore Alejandro Del Valle. Tardiff would help his own cause by doubling down the line in the top half of the ninth. Senior Stephen Crawford would single down the line bringing in Tardiff and, providing an insurance run for the Dolphins. The Dolphins would go ahead 5-3 in the top of the ninth before a Jadd Schmeitzer two run game tying blast to left center in the bottom of the ninth.
The Dolphins would explode with six runs on seven hits in the top of the tenth inning. Edmondson's leadoff triple would initiate the Dolphins attack. It was sophomore Sean Paino who would push across Edmondson for the go ahead run with a RBI single.
The Dolphins travel to play Niagara Saturday and Sunday for a three game series. First pitch of the double header Saturday, April 5th is set for noon. Junior Eric Beaulac will take the hill for the first game. Sophomore Luke Nellis and freshman Corey Nelson will start the second and third game in order.
