LE MOYNE SWEEPS RIT AT HOME.
SYRACUSE, NY - The Le Moyne swimming & diving teams
swept RIT in dual meets as the women improved to 7-1 on the year
and the men moved to 6-2 on the year. Winners of their last
seven dual meets, the women downed the Tigers 179-116. On the men's
side, the Dolphins edged RIT 158-139.
The lady Dolphins were led by freshman Katie O'Donnell
(Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) who earned four victories on the
afternoon. O'Donnell placed first in the 100 and 200
backstroke. Sophomore Sarah Salanger (Syracuse, NY /
West Genesee) added victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle
while Nicole Murphy (Camillus, NY / West Genesee)
touched first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Seniors
Meghan Nugent (Binghamton, NY / Chenango Valley)
and Lauren Ziemann (Syracuse, NY / West
Genesee) added first place finishes in the 100
freestyle and 1650 freestyle respectively. In the 200 IM,
O'Donnell, Murphy and Ziemann teamed up with Mary Chidsey
(Liverpool, NY / Liverpool) for the win. Senior
Brianna Litz (Liverpool, NY / Liverpool) and
Kayla Ehle (Baldwinsville, NY / CBA), O'Donnell
and Salanger captured the 800 relay in the final event of the
afternoon.
Senior Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, NY / Liverpool)
and freshman Mike Christine (Clifton Pack, NY /
Shenendehowa) each captured three individual wins along
with a relay victory to lead the Dolphins to a 19 point victory.
Chidsey captured victories in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and
the 200 IM. Christine touched first in the 50 freestyle, 100
freestyle and 100 butterfly. Fellow freshman Drew
Acquaviva (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) placed first in the 100
and 200 backstroke while Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, NY /
Ballston Spa) earned top finishes in the 100 and 200
breaststroke. Sophomore Sean Hosford (Garden City, NY
/ Garden City) teamed with Christine, Acquavia and Dumary
to place first in the 200 IM while Andrew Dearing (Kenmore,
NY / Canisius) helped Acquaviva, Chidsey and Hosford to a
victory in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, January 31st
as they host Ithaca in a dual meet at 1:00 PM. Saturday marks the
final home dual meet for 11 Le Moyne seniors as they will be
honored in a pre-race ceremony. Additionally, former Le Moyne
standout Alison Lesher '08 will have a banner raised to acknowledge
her national championship in the 200 butterfly last spring.
