Syracuse, N.Y. - Junior Sean Hosford (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and freshman Scott Thieke (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) won two individual events each and teamed on a relay victory to lead the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team to a 154-103 win over Nazareth on Saturday afternoon at the Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool. Senior Sarah Casey (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) and sophomore Katie O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) posted two individual wins each and teamed on a relay win, but the women's team fell to the Golden Flyers, 174-126.
Hosford and Thieke teamed with sophomore Drew Acquaviva (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) and junior Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) to open the meet with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:43.57. Thieke later topped the field in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:52.72 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:16.57. Hosford picked up individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.43 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 49.16 seconds. Acquaviva recorded his second first-place of the afternoon in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.90 seconds, while Dumary earned his second win with a time of 1:03.50 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Sophomore Jack Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) was also a double-winner on the day for the Dolphins, registering wins in each of the one-meter diving events with scores of 128.20 and 128.15. Sophomore Andrew Dearing (Kenmore, N.Y./Canisius) and freshman Tim Gallivan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) rounded out the individual winners for the Dolphins with victories in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.41) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.11), respectively.
On the women's side, Casey and O'Donnell combined with seniors Nicole Murphy (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and Kayla Ehle (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) to set a pool record in the meet-opening 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:08.00. Casey went on to touch first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.69 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:14.84. O'Donnell earned wins in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12.22 and the 100-yard butterfly in 59.36 seconds. Junior Sarah Salanger (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) recorded Le Moyne's final individual win with a time of 2:00.84 in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Dolphins return to the pool for a dual meet at The College of Saint Rose on Saturday, Nov. 21.
