SWIM: DOLPHINS SPLIT WITH HAMILTON IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON DUAL
MEET
Clinton, N.Y. - Freshman Katie O'Donnell (Delmar,
N.Y./Bethlehem) and sophomore Jerry Dumary
(Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) each won three
individual events and were apart of relay victories as the Le Moyne
College men's and women's swimming and diving teams split with
Hamilton College on Friday night at Bristol Pool. The women's team
edged the Continentals 152-148, while the men's team fell
153-131.
O'Donnell, the Northeast-10 Conference's reigning athlete and
freshman of the week, swam the lead leg for the first-place
200-yard medley relay team to open the meet. The quartet of
O'Donnell, Nicole Murphy (Camillus, N.Y./West
Genesee), Mary Chidsey (Liverpool,
N.Y./Liverpool) and Lauren Ziemann (Syracuse,
N.Y./West Genesee) finished in 1:55.08. O'Donnell also
registered victories in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.18), 100-yard
backstroke (1:01.40) and the 200-yard IM (2:13.04). Murphy added
two individual wins and another relay victory to her 200-yard
medley relay victory. Murphy topped the field in the 50-yard
breaststroke (32.05) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.54). She
also teamed with Ziemann, Kayla Ehle (Baldwinsville,
N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and Sarah
Salanger (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) for a victory in
the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.77. Senior Meghan
Nugent (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) and junior
Sarah Casey (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley)
also recorded victories in the 1000-yard freestyle and 50-yard
backstroke, respectively.
On the men's side, Dumary swam the second leg for the meet-opening
victory in the 200-yard medley relay. Dumary teamed with senior
Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool),
freshman Mike Christine (Clifton Park,
N.Y./Shenendehowa) and sophomore Sean Hosford
(Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) to finish in 1:38.33.
Dumary also picked up individual first-place finishes in the
50-yard breaststroke (28.86), 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.39) and
the 200-yard IM (2:01.62). In addition to teaming for the victory
in the 200-yard medley relay, Chidsey won the 50-yard freestyle
(22.02) and 100-yard freestyle (47.69) and swam the anchor leg for
the winning 200-yard freestyle relay squad. Chidsey teamed with
Christine, Hosford and freshman Drew Acquaviva (Delmar,
N.Y./Bethlehem) to finish in 1:28.67. Acquaviva was also a
dual-winner with victories in the 50-yard backstroke (25.69) and
100-yard backstroke (54.53). Senior Zach Hisert (Amsterdam,
N.Y./Amsterdam) registered a win in the one-meter diving
event with 257.80 points.
Following nearly two weeks off, the women's team returns to the
pool as the host of the UNYSCSA Championships from February 18-21.
The Men's team returns to action the following week with the
UNYSCSA Championships from Feb. 25-28.
