Rochester, N.Y. - Junior Mike Rabbitt (Simsbury,
Conn./Simsbury) scored three goals and dished out an
assist to lead #2 Le Moyne to an 11-5 win over #4 Mercyhurst in
non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Saint
John Fisher College.
Rabbitt tallied one goal in the opening quarter and added a pair
in the second quarter as the Dolphins built a 7-3 halftime lead.
Sophomore attackman Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian
Brothers Academy/Syracuse) posted two goals and an assist,
while freshman Mike Byrnes (Tully, N.Y./Tully)
scored twice.
Harmatuk gave the Dolphins an early 1-0 lead with a goal at the
13:21 mark off an assist from classmate Nick DiSarro
(Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna). The Lakers answered back with
a pair of goals by Ryan Arnold seven and one-half minutes apart.
Rabbitt and Byrnes netted goals less than one minute apart to give
Le Moyne a 3-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Senior midfielder Brian Welch (Ithaca,
N.Y./Ithaca) and Mercyhurst's Michael Duggan traded goals
over the opening five minutes of the second quarter before the
Dolphins tallied six consecutive goals to put the game away. Senior
midfielder Brooks Robinson (Preble, N.Y./Tully)
scored off a feed from sophomore attackman Jack Venditti
(Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) to ignite the run.
Rabbitt followed with a pair of man-up goals off feeds from
Robinson and Welch in the final 2:31 of the second quarter.
Following a failed clear attempt by the Lakers, Harmatuk picked up
the ground ball and fed Byrnes for his second goal of the contest.

N.Y./Auburn) gave the Dolphins a six-goal advantage off a
pass from Rabbitt with 4:13 remaining in the third quarter, while
DiSarro closed out the period with an unassisted tally.
Mercyhurst closed to within 10-5 with consecutive goals by Mike
Thon in the opening 3:28 of the fourth quarter, but could not get
any closer. Harmatuk capped the game's scoring with sixth goal of
the season at the 4:04 mark.
