WELCH'S SIX POINTS LEADS SECOND-RANKED MEN'S LACROSSE PAST ASSUMPTION

Worcester, Mass. - The #2-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team continued their undefeated season on Tuesday afternoon with a 17-2 victory over the Assumption Greyhounds at the Multi-Sport Stadium. The Dolphins were led by senior midfield Brian Welch (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) who paced the team with four goals and two assists for a total of six points.

Le Moyne wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when Welch found the back of the net just 39 seconds into the game. The Dolphins were able to put eight goals up on the board before Assumption had an answer. In that span, Welch tallied two goals and two assists, while sophomore midfielder Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) scored three times and assisted on one goal. With under a minute left in the half, Le Moyne was able to add two more goals from Welch and senior midfielder Brian Griffin (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), who won a face-off and drove the field for the score to take a 10-1 lead into halftime.

The Dolphins scored three unanswered goals to open up the second half to extend the lead to 13-1, highlighted by Jack Venditti's (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) two assists.  Le Moyne was able to score four more goals in the fourth quarter to give the final score of 17-2. Sophomore midfielder Nick DiSarro (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) added his second and third goals of the day in the fourth and freshman midfielder Taylor Brooks (Cypress, Tex./Cy-Fair) and senior attackman Tim Spillett (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/Albany) each scored their second.

Senior goalkeeper Doug McIver (Altamont, N.Y./Albany Academy) picked up the win, allowing only two goals and making five saves in just over 53 minutes of play.

The Dolphins (7-0, NE-10 3-0) will return to action next at home against the Bentley Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4th.
