Syracuse, N.Y. - Sophomore Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) scored a career-high four goals to lead the #1-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 21-1 win over Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Conference action on Monday afternoon at Sunnycrest Field.
The Dolphins opened the contest with 10 consecutive goals in the first 20 minutes of play. Sophomore midfielder Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) got Le Moyne on the board at the 13:26 mark of the first quarter. Less than one minute later, Sennett tallied his first goal of the contest. The Dolphins then got four goals in a span of one minute and 28 seconds on goals by senior Brooks Robinson (Preble, N.Y./Tully/Onondaga C.C.), sophomore Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse U.), senior Tim Spillett (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/UAlbany) and freshman Sean Connors (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus). Le Moyne ended the quarter with a pair of scores in the final minute. Freshman Mike Byrnes (Tully, N.Y./Tully) converted with 51 seconds left and Sennett scored with just seven seconds remaining in the period.
Sophomore attackman Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) opened the second quarter with a goal just six seconds in off a feed from classmate Corey Bulken (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), who won the face-off to begin the quarter. Robinson stretched the Le Moyne lead to 10-0 on an unassisted tally with 9:16 remaining in the second quarter. Jason Flanigan broke through for the Ravens with an extra-man goal at the 6:48 mark of the period. Junior midfielder Brian Orlando (Great Falls, Va./Flint Hill/Bridgton Academy) closed out the scoring in the half with an unassisted marker.
Eight different Dolphins scored in the second half as Le Moyne scored 10 goals. Robinson posted his third goal of the game 41 seconds into the quarter. Orlando followed with a goal off a feed from Northeast-10 Conference freshman of the week Taylor Brooks (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) and Sennett put in a man-up goal off a pass from Byrnes. Byrnes, senior Brian Griffin (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and junior Bob McIver (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) scored in a span of 1:14 to increase the Le Moyne lead to 17-1. Junior attackman Keith Vetter (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) capped the quarter with a goal at the 2:27 mark. McIver, senior Markus Fallico (Fayetteville, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) and Sennett each scored for the Dolphins in the fourth quarter.
Senior goalkeeper Doug McIver (Altamont, N.Y./Albany Academy), the Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, did not need to make a save in 15 minutes of action. Freshman Matt Krupka (Nedrow, N.Y./Onondaga) made one save in 22:41 between the pipes, while classmate Sebastian Baker (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) stopped three shots in 22:19 of action.
Le Moyne (9-0, NE-10 5-0) returns to action on Saturday, April 11 at #4-ranked Merrimack at 1:00 p.m.
