Lafayette, La. – Louisiana strung together five runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth inning to turn a 4-3 deficit into an 8-5 victory in the final game of a three-game set with Le Moyne College. After capturing a 6-5 victory the following night, Le Moyne falls to 22-23 on the year, while the Ragin Cajuns improve to 25-15.
Freshman catcher Brian Stinson (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) led the Dolphins at the plate with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Zack Wiley (Toluca Woods, Calif./Crespi) and Brett Botsford (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) each chipped in with a pair of hits as well. For Louisiana, right fielder Matt Goulas was three-for-five at the plate with three RBI, two runs and a home run.
Le Moyne got on the board first in the top half of the third inning on an RBI ground out by Matt Marra (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) to score Botsford from third base. Louisiana took the lead in its half of the third as Goulas blasted a one-out, two-run home run to left center.
The 'Phins responded in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2 on an RBI double by Wiley. Following an RBI single by Greg Fontenot to push the Ragin' Cajuns back in front 3-2, the Dolphins struck for two runs in the top half of the sixth on an RBI double by Stinson, who later scored on a wild pitch.
Down to its final six outs, Louisiana rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on five hits and one Dolphin fielding error. Tyler Frederick tied the game up at 4-4 on an RBI single to center field to plate Alex Fuselier from second. A fielder's choice ground out by Fontenot and a Le Moyne error pushed across the go-ahead run. Louisiana added three more insurance runs to take an 8-4 advantage into the ninth.
Le Moyne rallied for one run on a ground out by Paul Speicher (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) to score Wiley, but Joey Satriano found the final three outs he needed to clinch the victory for his third win of the season.
Le Moyne returns to Dick Rockwell Field on Wednesday, April 28th for a doubleheader with Buffalo beginning at 2:00 PM. Both games will be broadcast live on www.lemoynedolphins.tv
