LATE RALLY COMES UP SHORT AS AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL DOWNS LE MOYNE, 55-45

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior forward Rhea Pascal and sophomore guard Sarah Noble each scored 12 points to lead American International to a 55-45 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Wednesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court.

Pascal, who pulled down four offensive rebounds, tallied 10 of her points after halftime, while Noble posted nine of her points in the first half. Senior guard Michelle Lafond and senior guard Marie Li Sicard each recorded nine points for the Yellow Jackets, while Lauren Griffith pulled down 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Morgan Rowland (Latham, N.Y./Shaker/Delaware State) led the Dolphins in scoring with a season-high 12 points, including 10 after the intermission. Senior center Emma Cronk (Parham, Ontario/Sydenham/Binghamton) finished in double-figures for the second straight game with 10 points, while adding six rebounds. Senior forward Katie Hart (Constantia, N.Y./Central Square/Canisius) led the Dolphins with nine rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets scored the first four points of the game on jumpers by Noble and Griffith en route to leading the entire game.

Following a put-back lay-up by Cronk to make the score 9-6 5:04 into the contest, the Yellow Jackets scored 11 straight points to take control of the game. Sicard had a pair of jumpers in the span as did Griffith and Pascal, while Noble capped the streak with a three-pointer off a feed from Sicard.

After AIC pushed its lead out to 15 (27-12) with 4:49 remaining in the stanza, the Dolphins tallied eight of the half's final nine points to go into the intermission only trailing by eight points. Freshman forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) started the stretch with two free throws, Rowland followed with a jumper, Hart converted two free throws and sophomore guard Maddy McKnight (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) ended Le Moyne's scoring with a fast-break lay-up off a steal by classmate Ashley Prischak (Erie, Pa./Villa Marie Academy).

After Pascal scored the first two points of the second half, the Dolphins got lay-ups from Cronk and Hart to pull within six points with 16:16 remaining, but could not get any closer.

Following four straight points by the Yellow Jackets and a jumper by Rowland made the score 34-26 with 12:33 to go, AIC got a three-pointer from Lafond and a free throw from sophomore guard Erica Johnson to extend its lead back into double-digits. The Yellow Jackets maintained a lead between 10 and 14 over the ensuing five minutes.

Following an AIC timeout after Griffith gave her team a 46-32 advantage with a pair of free throws, Rowland scored the game's next eight points on a jumper and two three-pointers over a span of three minutes and 14 seconds to pull the Dolphins within 46-40 with 2:57 left.

However, the Yellow Jackets scored the game's next six points to end the Le Moyne comeback. Noble stopped Rowland's run with a three-pointer, freshman guard Alyssa Roach followed with a free throw and Pascal pushed the lead to 52-40 by making two foul shots with 35 seconds left.

Hart had a lay-up and junior forward Emily Bayly">Emily Bayly (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) had a conventional three-point play around a free throw from Sicard and two foul shots by Roach to close out the game's scoring.

Le Moyne (1-4, 0-4 NE-10), which has averaged 41.5 points in dropping four consecutive games to the Yellow Jackets, travels to West Haven, Connecticut on Saturday to take on New Haven at 3:30 p.m.
