North Bethesda, Md. – Riley Loewen scored five goals, including a pair in the third quarter, to lead fourth-ranked Limestone to an 11-9 upset of the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon at Georgetown Prep. The loss snapped Le Moyne's 47-game regular season win streak.

The loss marked the first in the regular season for the Dolphins since a 7-6 setback at Merrimack on March 31, 2007. It marks Le Moyne's first loss in the regular season to a non-conference opponent since an 11-7 loss at C.W. Post on March 30, 2002, a span of 23 games. The Saints picked up their first win in the series since a 9-8 victory on May 21, 2005 in the NCAA National semifinals, snapping a six-game losing streak to the Dolphins.

In the opening quarter, the two teams traded goals over the first 7:55. Senior attackman Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse U.) got the Dolphins on the board 1:24 into the contest with an extra-man goal. The goal gave Harmatuk a tally in 34 straight games since being held scoreless by the Saints in an 8-4 win on March 7, 2009. Just 26 seconds later, Harmatuk doubled the lead for the Dolphins by scoring off a pass from classmate Corey Bulken (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Post), who won the face-off after Harmatuk's first tally.

The Saints cut their deficit in half as Shayne Jackson netted an unassisted goal at the 11:39 mark. Loewen evened the game at two apiece 2:34 later with his 13th goal of the season.

Le Moyne regained the lead with 7:59 remaining in the first quarter following a Limestone turnover. After clearing the ball, senior midfielder Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) fed the ball to classmate Nick DiSarro (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna), who scored from the right wing. The Saints answered back 54 seconds later with a man-up goal by Loewen off a pass from Jackson.

The Dolphins scored twice over the final 2:50 of the stanza to regain the lead. Senior attackman Vinnie Alexander (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) scored from in front of the goal for a 4-3 lead, while Harmatuk found the back of the net from the right wing with 1:13 remaining.

Limestone scored a pair of goals 47 seconds apart early in the second period to knot the score at five. Loewen tallied his third goal of the contest at the 13:24 mark with Tyler Baker netting an extra-man goal off a pass from Jackson with 12:37 until intermission.

Le Moyne took the lead back with 10:05 left on a man-up goal in front of the net by Alexander off a feed from Chadderdon. Jackson Decker pulled the Saints even at the half with his fifth goal of the year with 2:12 remaining.

Alexander put the Dolphins in front 7-6 one minute into the third quarter by scoring from the right wing, but that would mark Le Moyne's last lead of the contest.

Following six and one-half minutes of scoreless action, Loewen tied the score at seven apiece with an extra-man goal off a feed from Jackson. Loewen netted his third man-up goal of the contest with 1:03 left in the quarter following a pass from Jackson to give Limestone its first lead of the game.

The Dolphins scored off the opening face-off of the fourth quarter to tie the score at eight, but the Saints were able to answer with three straight goals to take control of the game. Bulken won the quarter's first face-off and raced up field, where he found classmate Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), who scored from the left side of the goal. After a pushing penalty on the Dolphins, Limestone converted its fifth man-up goal of the game when Baker finished off a pass from Jackson at the 10:50 mark. Just under one minute later, Limestone took its first two-goal lead of the contest on an unassisted tally by Thomas Langan. Decker increased his team's lead to 11-8 with 2:47 left with an unassisted goal. Freshman midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn), Matt's younger brother, set the final score by finding the back of the net with 19 seconds left.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made four saves in suffering his first career loss when starting in between the pipes. Steve Gartelman registered 11 saves, including five in the second quarter, to pick up the victory for the Saints.

Le Moyne (1-1) returns to action on Friday against Lees-McRae at 12:00 p.m. at Essex Community College in Baltimore, Maryland.
