WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNED BY ADELPHI, 65-64, ON LAST-SECOND THREE-POINTER

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sade Jackson hit a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left to give Adelphi a 65-64 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court.

Senior forward Katie Hart (Constantia, N.Y./Central Square/Canisius) led the Dolphins in defeat with 14 points (10 in the second half) and 17 rebounds, 11 of which came in the first half. Senior guard Morgan Rowland (Latham, N.Y./Shaker/Delaware State) recorded 16 points in the contest, while classmate Emma Cronk (Parham, Ontario/Sydenham/Binghamton) pulled down 10 rebounds.

Jackson finished the game with 12 points, including nine in the second half, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals. Kelly Mannix led all scorers in the game with a career-high 24 points, 15 of which came in the second half, while pulling down a team-best eight rebounds. Breanna Gonsalves registered 13 points in the win, while Amanda Campusano scored 10 second-half points.

The teams opened the game by going back-and-forth over the first eight minutes and 35 seconds, leading to an 18-16 Le Moyne lead. After the Dolphins scored eight of the first 11 points on three-pointers by Rowland and junior forward Emily Bayly (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) around a Hart jumper, the Panthers got a three-pointer and a lay-up from Mannix and a three-pointer from Gonsalves for the lead.

Following a three-pointer by Rowland to tie the score at 11 at the 14:31 mark, Jackson had a conventional three-point play and Gonsalves made a jumper around a jumper by freshman forward Jocelyn Ford (Ithaca, N.Y./Lansing) for a 16-13 edge.

The Dolphins then scored seven straight points to take the lead. Hart started the run with a jumper, freshman forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) nailed a three-pointer and then Rowland knocked down a jumper.

After a Mannix lay-up, the Dolphins scored nine consecutive points to open up an 11-point lead. Greer hit two free throws, sophomore guard Maddy McKnight (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) made a three-pointer and a jumper and Cronk closed out the stretch with a jumper.

Adelphi scored five of the final eight points of the half to go into the intermission trailing 32-23. Ashley O'Connell had a jumper, Alexis Williams made a lay-up and then O'Connell hit a free throw, while Rowland nailed a three-pointer for the Dolphins.

The Panthers opened the second half with a lay-up by Campusano and a three-pointer by Gonsalves to get within four and force a Le Moyne timeout. After the Dolphins were able to push their lead back to eight on baskets by Hart and Rowland, Mannix made two foul shots and Campusano drilled a three-pointer with 14:57 left.

Le Moyne's lead then bounced between one and four points over the next eight minutes and 28 seconds. Hart had four points and McKnight had three for the Dolphins in the stretch, while Mannix had five, Jackson four and Gonsalves three for the Panthers.

Following two free throws from Gonsalves to get Adelphi within 47-45 with 6:29 to go, the Dolphins scored nine of the next 11 points to take a nine point lead with 4:28 left. Junior guard Torie Lee">Torie Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) registered a conventional three-point play to start the run, Hart followed with a jumper, Cronk hit two free throws and then Hart hit another jumper.

Adelphi countered with five straight points and 12 of the next 17 points to get within two points with 28 seconds left. Campusano had two free throws and Mannix followed with a three-pointer one minute later. Lee made a lay-up for the Dolphins, but Mannix answered 10 seconds later with another three-pointer. Rowland put Le Moyne back up by six with 1:30 remaining, but the Panthers got baskets from Jackson and Gonsalves to close within 61-59 with 28 seconds remaining.

Following a pair of free throws by Bayly with 24 seconds to go, Campusano nailed a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to make it a 63-62 game. After McKnight converted a free throw and the Dolphins called timeout with 12 seconds left, Jackson hit a three-pointer from the right corner with 1.1 seconds remaining off a pass from Campusano, who had to give the ball up after she was double-teamed on the right wing. Le Moyne's game-winning attempt was off the mark.

Le Moyne (7-18, 4-17 NE-10), which has dropped four straight games to the Panthers after winning the first two games as NE-10 opponents, closes out the season on Monday against Pace at 5:30 p.m. Prior to the game, Cronk, Hart and Rowland will be honored for their contributions to the program.
