Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – Shortstop Nicolette Sinagra went 4-for-6 with three runs batted in to lead Molloy to a doubleheader sweep of the Le Moyne College softball team on Sunday afternoon at the Dean Skelos Complex. The Lions rallied for a 4-3 victory in the opener, while winning 2-1 in the nightcap.

Le Moyne opened the first game's scoring with a run on two hits in the first inning. Following a two-out double down the right field line by senior catcher Morgan Edmondson (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City), freshman second baseman Kristie Capuano (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) singled through the right side to plate Edmondson.

The Lions answered with two runs on two hits and two Le Moyne errors in the bottom of the inning. Center fielder Jeana Frey walked to lead off the frame and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. First baseman Carla Campagna singled up the middle and third baseman Haley Calderwood reached on an error by the third baseman to load the bases. Sinagra followed with a single to left to drive in Frey and Campagna, but was thrown out at second and Calderwood was thrown out at third to end the inning.

The Dolphins regained the lead with two runs on three hits and a Molloy error in the top of the second. Sophomore pitcher Erin Batson (Poland, N.Y./Poland) opened the frame with a bunt single to third base and advanced to second on a ground out. Senior first baseman Leah Ford (Pulaski, N.Y./Pulaski) then singled up the middle to push Batson to third, while Batson scored on an error by the center fielder. After a double by senior third baseman Kelcie Cashel (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek), sophomore left fielder Sarah Tram (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) plated Ford by reaching on a fielder's choice.

Molloy took the lead for good with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Calderwood led off the frame with a game-tying solo home run. Sinagra followed with a single to the left side of the infield, moved to second on a ground out and came around to score on a double to left center by pitcher Megan Butterworth.

Batson suffered the loss after giving up four runs on six hits over three and one-third innings in the circle. Butterworth earned the win after recording eight strikeouts over seven innings, while yielding three runs.

In the nightcap, the Lions scored the only runs they would need on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. Campagna singled to left with two outs and came around to score on a triple to right center by Calderwood. Sinagra followed with a double to center to drive in Calderwood.

Cashel blasted a solo home run with two outs in the top of the third inning, but the Dolphins were unable to score the tying run over the final four innings.

Sophomore left-hander Sarah Harrison">Sarah Harrison (Cobleskill, N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville) took the loss after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings pitched, while striking out three. Kelley Jansen earned the win after posting 14 strikeouts over seven innings of work.

Le Moyne (4-14), which has dropped six straight games to the Lions since sweeping a doubleheader in 2008, opens Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday at Southern Connecticut State at 3:00 p.m.
