Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior third baseman Kelcie Cashel (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) scored the only run in the opening game to lead the Le Moyne College softball team to a doubleheader split with Assumption on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins won the opener, 1-0, in eight innings, but fell, 2-0, in the nightcap.

After seven scoreless innings, Cashel led off the eighth with a single through the left side. Sophomore right fielder Sarah Tram (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) followed with a single to the shortstop, whose errant throw to the first baseman allowed Cashel to race all the way home for the winning run.

Sophomore southpaw Sarah Harrison (Cobleskill, N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville) struck out five of the nine batters she faced over the final two and two-thirds innings to register her fifth win of the year. Jennifer Lowrey was the tough-luck loser after striking out 14 batters, including five with a runner at third base, while allowing the unearned run on six hits.

In the nightcap, the Greyhounds scored the only run they would need on three hits in the third inning. Second baseman Lauren Medeiros singled to center with one out and moved to third on a double to left by right fielder Nikki Boris. Third baseman Jess DiPilato followed with a double to center to drive in Medeiros.

Assumption added an insurance run on one hit in the fourth inning. After drawing a two-out walk, center fielder Tanya Robidoux scored on a double to right field by left fielder Melissa Jalbert.

Senior Brenna Klein">Brenna Klein (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) took the loss after giving up a run on six hits over three and two-thirds innings in the circle. Jenn Lattal improved to 4-1 on the year after striking out five and yielding three hits in a complete-game performance.
