Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior designated hitter Fran Kiernan (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) blasted a walk-off home run in game one and senior catcher Morgan Edmondson (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) registered a walk-off single in the nightcap to lead the Le Moyne College softball team to a doubleheader sweep of New Haven on Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins rallied for a 5-4 win in eight innings in the opener and posted a 4-3 victory in game two.
The Chargers opened the scoring in the first game with a run on one hit in the first inning. Left fielder Shannon Angehr led off with a single to the left side of the infield. After moving to second on a sacrifice bunt and advancing to third on a passed ball, Angehr scored on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Lindsay Couturier.
Le Moyne took the lead in the bottom of the second with two runs on two hits and a New Haven error. Sophomore pitcher Sarah Harrison (Cobleskill, N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville) reached on a fielding error by the third baseman with one out and moved to second on a single up the middle by junior right fielder Demetra Kermidas (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley). After Harrison and Kermidas moved up a base on a wild pitch, freshman second baseman Kristie Capuano (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) singled up the middle to drive in both runners.
New Haven evened the score at two apiece in the fourth inning as second baseman Lucy Francisco led off with a home run to left field.
The Chargers regained the lead with two runs on one hit and three Le Moyne errors in the top of the eighth inning. After center fielder Amy Nepi reached on a fielder's choice, shortstop Brandy Dianno reached on a throwing error by the pitcher on a sacrifice bunt attempt, with the error allowing Nepi to move to third and Dianno to go to second base. Following the second out of the inning, Francisco reached on a dropped fly ball, which allowed Nepi and Dianno to score.
The Dolphins answered in the bottom of the eighth with three runs on two hits for the win. Senior third baseman Kelcie Cashel (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) drew a walk to open the frame and moved to second on a wild pitch. Senior shortstop Barb Shea (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) followed with a single to center to drive in Cashel, while advancing to second on an error by the center fielder. Two batters later, Kiernan crushed her second career home run over the fence in center for the walk-off victory.

Shea and Kiernan each registered two of Le Moyne's seven hits. Alana Wesche suffered the loss for the Chargers after giving up five runs (four earned) over seven and one-third innings pitched.
New Haven jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first two batters of the second game. After Angehr walked on eight pitches to open the inning, Francisco homered over the fence in right center.

The Chargers took the lead back with a run on two hits in the fifth inning. Angehr doubled to right field with one out and came around to score on a two-out double to left field by Couturier.
