#1 WOMEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON AT #9 WEST CHESTER, 15-12

West Chester, Pa. – Tori Dugan scored four times, including the go-ahead goal with 7:26 remaining in the second half, to lead ninth-ranked West Chester to a 15-12 upset of the top-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team on Monday afternoon in non-conference action at Vonnie Gros Field. With the victory, West Chester head coach Ginny Martino broke the NCAA Division II record for most wins with 218. The previous record was held by former Millersville head coach Barb Waltman.

West Chester's Lauren Glassey opened the scoring in the contest with an unassisted goal two minutes and 22 seconds into the game.

The Dolphins answered with three goals in a span of 2:19 to take the lead. Senior attacker Brittany Brigandi (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/UMass) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 25:10 mark. Just 48 seconds later, junior midfielder Gabrielle Kamide (Deferiet, N.Y./Carthage) finished off a pass from sophomore attacker Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) for the lead. Junior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) doubled Le Moyne's lead by scoring off a free-position shot.

Glassey cut her team's deficit to one with an unassisted goal with 21:00 left in the half.

Le Moyne responded with a pair of goals one and one-half minutes apart to take a 5-2 advantage. Brigandi converted a free-position shot in an extra-man opportunity with 19:24 left and freshman attacker Sam Yaro (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) followed with a free-position goal with 17:55 remaining.

The Golden Rams scored six of the final seven goals of the half to take an 8-6 lead into the intermission. Erin Oczkowski started the push by finishing off a pass from Theresa Giunta with 17:13 to go. Oczkowski then scored an unassisted goal in an extra-man situation to pull her team within 5-4 with 15:20 remaining.

Brigandi registered a free-position goal with 13:43 left to end the 2-0 spurt, but Dugan answered 58 seconds later with her first goal of the day. Brittany Long recorded an unassisted goal with 9:04 remaining to even the score at six apiece. Following five and one-half minutes of scoreless play, Oczkowski gave West Chester the lead by finishing off a pass from Dugan. Jacki Patterson closed out the scoring in the half by finding the back of the net on a free-position shot.

Le Moyne scored the first four goals of the second half to turn its two-goal deficit into a two-goal advantage. Bauer started the streak 1:02 into the stanza by converting a free-position shot. Brigandi then tied the score 30 seconds later after taking a pass from junior attacker Kelly Condon (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua). Just under three minutes later, Bauer tallied an unassisted goal to give the Dolphins the lead. Condon scored off a free-position shot with 19:36 remaining to extend the edge to 10-8.

West Chester countered with three goals in a stretch of 3:22 to regain the lead. MacKenzie O'Keefe ignited the run by finishing off a pass from Nicole Pyle with 17:46 left. Just over two minutes later, Dugan knotted the score at 10 apiece after taking a feed from O'Keefe. Jamie Dolan put the Golden Rams in front with an unassisted goal with 14:23 remaining in the contest.

The teams then traded goals over a span of two minutes and 45 seconds. Conese recorded her 22nd goal of the season with 11:34 left to even the score at 11. Giunta followed with a free-position goal with 10:21 to give the lead back to the Golden Rams. Brigandi found the back of the net for the 49th time this season with 8:49 to tie the score for the final time. With the goal, Brigandi moved into second place on the program's all-time goals scored chart with 165 and moved into a tie for third on the points list with 199.

Dugan converted a free-position shot with 7:26 remaining to give the Golden Rams the lead for good. After West Chester goalkeeper Jess Henderson made a save on a shot by Bauer, Dolan netted an unassisted goal with 3:51 left. Dugan completed the game's scoring with an unassisted goal with 1:53 remaining in the game.

Senior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made a season high-tying 13 saves between the pipes in the loss for the Dolphins. Henderson stopped 12 shots for the Golden Rams, including eight in the second half.

Le Moyne (11-1), which allowed double-digit goals to a team other than Adelphi for the first time as a Division II program (29 non-Adelphi games), returns home to face seventh-ranked New Haven on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
