Box Score Garden City, N.Y. – Third baseman Victoria Wink blasted a three-run home run to lead Adelphi University to a 4-1 win over the Le Moyne College softball team on Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action at Janet L. Ficke Field.
The Panthers scored all four of their runs on four hits in the first inning. Center fielder Emily Dorko led off with a single to left field and then stole second base. After second baseman Heather Salerno walked, Wink blasted a homer to left field. Following two pop outs, shortstop Jeanine Leo singled to left field and then stole second. Catcher Meghan Heiser followed with an infield single to drive in Leo.
Le Moyne got on the scoreboard with one run on three hits in the top of the fourth inning. Senior center fielder Demetra Kermidas (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) singled with one out and moved to second on a single to right field by senior third baseman Fran Kiernan (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson). Freshman shortstop Kirsten Trotta (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. Dupont) followed with a single to left field to drive in Kermidas.
Junior lefty Sarah Harrison">Sarah Harrison (Canandaigua, N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville) took the loss after giving up four runs on five hits (0 after the second inning) over six innings, while striking out nine batters. Devon Kelly earned the win in the circle after striking out two batters over four innings, while allowing one run on three hits. Laurin Watts picked up the save after striking out five over three innings in the circle.
Le Moyne (4-8, 2-1 NE-10, 2-1 SW) wraps up the three-game series with the Panthers on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
