BALANCED ATTACK LEADS VOLLEYBALL TO 3-1 WIN OVER DAEMEN IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Syracuse, N.Y. – Four Dolphins registered double-digit kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Daemen College on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Ted Grant Court.

Daemen opened the match by winning the first 25-20. The teams split the first 22 points before the Wildcats used a 5-0 run to take control of the game. The Dolphins evened the match at one apiece with a 25-22 victory in the second game. Le Moyne scored the first three points of the third game and used a six-point run midway through the game en route to a 25-11 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Dolphins opened the fourth game with the first six points, but the Wildcats responded with 10 of the next 13 points to take the lead. After the teams split the next 12 points, the Dolphins rattled off four straight points to take a 20-17 lead. Following a 3-0 spurt by the Wildcats to tie the game at 24, the Dolphins recorded the final two points, including the last one on a block by sophomores Allegra Lee Bell (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and Mackenzie Marple (Covington, Pa./Wellsboro), for a 26-24 win to close out the match.

Senior middle hitter Kristen Willets (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) led the Dolphins offensively with 12 kills, while adding three service aces, three digs and three block assists. Bell hit .563 en route to registering a career-best 11 kills, while recording two solo blocks and two block assists. Sophomore outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) also posted 11 kills to go along with nine digs, while classmate Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) tallied 10 kills and nine digs. Senior setter Megan Maisonet (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) registered her ninth double-double of the season by directing the offence with 46 assists and helping the defense with 12 digs, while adding a career-high five kills. Sophomore libero Annie Stoklosa (Victor, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) led the team defensively with 14 digs, while adding four assists.

Lindsey Nowak led the Wildcats with a match-high 15 kills, while adding two digs and two block assists. Amber Drzymala registered 10 kills, 11 digs, five service aces and an assist in the setback. Katie McKrell directed the offense with 20 assists.

Le Moyne (4-8), which wrapped up non-conference play with a 3-6 record, returns to Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at Southern Connecticut State at 3:30 p.m.
