WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SUFFERS FIRST ROAD LOSS, 53-46, AT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

Springfield, Mass. – Krista Ferrentino recorded a double-double to lead American International College to a 53-46 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Wednesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Butova Gymnasium.

Junior guard Vandell Andrade (Cranston, R.I./St. Mary's-Bay View/Rhode Island College) led the Dolphins with 12 points and five rebounds. Senior forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) tallied 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Senior center Bath-Sheba McMahon (Queens, N.Y./Grambling Laboratory (La.)/Weatherford College) grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds to go along with seven points and three blocked shots.

Ferrentino led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while blocking three shots. Imani Stepney came off the bench to tally 13 points and grab seven rebounds.

The Dolphins opened the game by scoring the first nine points over the opening 4:42. Senior guard Alex Marple (Covington, Pa./Wellsboro) started the scoring with a free throw, Greer followed with a three-pointer, Andrade converted a lay-up and then McMahon had a traditional three point play.

After Andrade made a lay-up with 12:39 remaining in the half to put the Dolphins up 13-2, the Yellow Jackets recorded a 25-7 run over the remainder of the half. Stepney had nine of the points in the streak, including the go-ahead back with 2:08 left in the half. Ferrentino recorded five points in the span, including the final three with 2.3 seconds remaining in the stanza.

Kamika Mason scored the first three points of the second half to push American International's lead to 10 with 17:24 remaining.

The Dolphins responded with seven straight points and nine of the next 11 to pull within 32-29 and force an AIC timeout with 13:01 play. Senior guard Maddie Hahesy (Erie, Pa./McDowell) started the run with a three-pointer from the top-of-the-key, junior forward Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) followed with a pair of free throws, Greer made a lay-up and then Marple connected on a reverse lay-up.

Following the timeout, the Yellow Jackets rattled off nine straight points to extend their lead to a game-high 12 points with 9:58 left. Stepney and Danielle Dorsett made lay-ups, Brianna Bishop nailed a three-pointer and then Mason made a jumper for a 41-29 lead.

After off-setting three-point plays by Andrade and Ferrentino made the score 44-32 with 8:31 left, the Dolphins scored 10 of the next 12 points to get within four with just over two minutes left. Marple made a foul shot to start the run, Hahesy, Greer and McMahon followed with lay-ups and then McMahon made two foul shots and Andrade connected on one to make it a 46-42 game with 2:05 left.

Following three Yellow Jacket free throws, Marple made two foul shots and Andrade converted a fast-break lay-up to get the Dolphins within 49-46 with 36 seconds remaining.

Alyssa Roach and Ferrentino each made two free throws in the final 18 seconds to deliver the final score.

Le Moyne (5-2, 1-2 NE-10), which has dropped six straight games to the Yellow Jackets in Springfield, returns to action on Saturday at Pace University at 1:30 p.m.
