WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS PACE, 55-45, TO EARN FOURTH SEED IN NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Pleasantville, N.Y - Junior forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) scored 16 points to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 55-45 win over Pace University on Tuesday night in the regular-season finale at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

With the win, the Dolphins clinch the Southwest Division's fourth seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships and will host Saint Anselm College in the first round on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

Greer tallied nine of her 16 points in the second half, including a pair of three-pointers, while grabbing four rebounds. Junior guard Alex Marple (Covington, N.Y./Wellsboro) recorded 13 points, 10 of which she scored in the first half, while adding a pair of rebounds and assists. Graduate student guard Kayla Stroman">Kayla Stroman (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Niagara) posted 10 points, nine of which she scored over the final 3:06, while grabbing six rebounds, dishing out three assists and adding two steals.

Shanice Allen led the Setters in the loss with a game-high 17 points, including 11 in the second half, while pulling down eight rebounds and handing out four assists. Kirsten Dodge recorded a double-double of 13 points and a game-best 15 rebounds, while blocking four shots.

After Pace scored five of the game's first eight points, the Dolphins rattled off nine straight points and 13 of the next 15 to take their largest lead of the half. Four different Dolphins scored in the 9-0 run, while a fifth scored in the 4-0 spurt.

Following a pair of free throws by Greer to put the Dolphins up 18-9 with 6:51 left, Pace registered an 11-2 run over the next 3:54 to tie the score at 20 apiece. Allen and Shanice Maynard each hit three-pointers in the streak, while Dodge tied the score with a lay-up with 2:57 to play.

Greer answered with a lay-up to spark a 6-0 run by the Dolphins to close out the half. Following a Stroman free throw, Marple gave her team a 26-20 advantage at halftime with a conventional three-point play.

Dodge opened the second half with a lay-up, but Greer countered with a three-pointer and a lay-up to push Le Moyne's lead back to nine.

The Setters scored six straight points to get within three, but could not get any closer. Allen made a pair of lay-ups around a lay-up by Loren Kaiser.

The teams then went back and forth over the next 10 minutes with Le Moyne's lead bouncing between three and seven points and resulting in a four-point margin (41-37) with 6:14 left.

Following two minutes of scoreless action, Greer nailed a three-pointer and Stroman beat the shot-clock buzzer with a mid-range jump shot to push Le Moyne's lead to nine.

Allen made a pair of lay-ups around a free throw by Stroman to get the Setters within six with 36 seconds left, but Stroman made four foul shots and senior guard Maddie McKnight (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) made two free throws to close out the victory.

Le Moyne (14-12, 10-10), which beat Saint Anselm at home on January 22 by a score of 55-54, finishes the conference schedule with double-digit wins for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
