FRESHMEN LEAD MEN’S SOCCER TO 1-0 VICTORY OVER LOCK HAVEN

Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman Jacob Borssen (Stockholm, Södermanland/Solna Gymnasium) scored for the third time in two games and classmate Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) recorded his second straight shutout to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Lock Haven University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Ted Grant Field.

Lock Haven had a chance to take the lead 12 and one-half minutes into the contest, but Colt Brackbill had his shot cleared off the line by junior midfielder Anthony Scaravillo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill).

Just over 13 minutes later, the Dolphins scored the game's only goal as Borssen sent the ball to the right side of the field to junior midfielder Nick Rauscher (Henrietta, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit), who then served the ball into the penalty box. Borssen settled the ball and then fired a shot into the upper left corner of the goal from 12 yards out for his third marker in two games.

Borssen's goal was the last shot the Dolphins put on target in the game, while the Bald Eagles put two shots on goal in the second half, including one with seven seconds left, but Beaury was able to snare both shots.

Beaury finished the game with the two saves to earn his second consecutive shutout and the win between the pipes. Beaury is the first Dolphin goalkeeper to record back-to-back shutouts to start the year since Tim Mann '05 did so in 2003. Jonathan Howitt made one save in the loss for the Bald Eagles.

Le Moyne (2-0), which has won its first two games for the first time since the 2007 season, continues its season-opening four-game homestand against Daemen College on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
