WOMEN’S BASKETBALL REGISTERS 85-68 WIN OVER SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT VICTORY

Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior guard Vandell Andrade (Cranston, R.I./St. Mary's-Bay View/Rhode Island College) tallied 20 points to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to an 85-68 win over Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court.

Andrade, who reached the 20-point plateau for the third time in the last six games, tallied 11 of her points in the first half, while finishing the game with six rebounds (four offensive), three assists and a pair of steals. Senior guard Alex Marple (Covington, Pa./Wellsboro) registered 17 points to move into 12th place on the program's career scoring chart with 1047, while adding a career high-tying four steals, two blocked shots, two assists and two rebounds. Senior forward Bath-Sheba McMahon (Queens, N.Y./Grambling Laboratory (La.)/Weatherford College) registered her second double-double of the season with 11 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, 12 of which came in the second half. Her rebound total is tied for the fourth-most in the program's history and is the most since Katie Hart '12 grabbed 17 against Adelphi on February 18, 2012. Senior forward Tessa Pucello (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) came off the bench to nail all four of her three-point attempts en route to 13 points. During the team's six-game win streak, Pucello has converted 20 of her 26 three-point attempts to increase her season percentage from behind the three-point line to 63.2-percent. That mark will rank her first in the country across all three divisions when the new rankings are released by the NCAA on Monday afternoon.

Vic Wiseman, who made her first start of the season, led the Penmen offensively with 18 points, 14 of which she scored in the first half, while adding eight rebounds. Catherine Stinson and Kaylea Griffin each posted 12 points, while Brooke Springfield contributed 11 points and five assists.

After the teams went back and forth over the opening five minutes, the Dolphins rattled off 10 straight points over a span of 2:17 to take a 23-11 lead. Senior forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) started the streak with a lay-up, junior guard Lauren Salzbrenner (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan North) followed with a three-pointer, Andrade made a fast-break lay-up and then Pucello followed with her first three-pointer of the contest at the 12:39 mark.

The Penmen pulled within seven with a 7-2 run, but the Dolphins answered with seven straight points to double their lead. Wiseman had five of SNHU's seven points, while three different Dolphins scored in the 7-0 run, which was capped by a Pucello three-pointer with 9:41 left in the half off an offensive rebound by Andrade.

The teams then traded short runs over the final nine of the half as the Dolphins took a 46-37 lead into the intermission. Griffin, Wiseman and Stinson each had four of SNHU's 16 points over the stretch, while five different Dolphins accounted for their 11 points.

Le Moyne (14-5, 8-4 NE-10), which has won six straight games for the first time since January 2002, scored the first six points of the half as part of an 18-7 jaunt over the opening 8:15 of the stanza to open up a 20-point lead at 64-44. Seven different Dolphins scored in the span, which included three-pointers from Greer and Pucello.

Southern New Hampshire (10-10, 4-9 NE-10) cut its deficit to 14 with six consecutive points, but the Dolphins answered with the next seven for their largest lead of the game. Andrade recorded a conventional three-point play and a lay-up in the streak around a put-back lay-up from McMahon.

Following 11 points from each team over the next four minutes, the Penmen scored seven straight to trim Le Moyne's lead to 14. Stinson hit four free throws around a three-pointer from Caitlin Dell'Orfano.

Freshman guard Austin Stevens (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) finished off the game's scoring with a conventional three-point play.

Le Moyne, which snapped a three-game losing streak to the Penmen, returns to action at home on Tuesday against #5/7 Stonehill College at 5:00 p.m.
