West Haven, Conn. – Meghan Kennelly and Kristine Rios each registered triple-doubles to lead the University of New Haven to a 3-1 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team on Friday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Charger Gymnasium.
New Haven opened the match by recording a 25-22 win in the first set. After the teams went back and forth over the opening 25 points of the set, the Dolphins scored six straight points for an 18-13 lead. The Chargers responded with a 5-1 run to get within a point. After alternating the next five points, New Haven tallied five consecutive points to close out the set.
The Chargers doubled their lead in the match with a 25-19 victory in the second set. New Haven scored the first five points and later used a 4-0 spurt for a 15-7 lead. The Dolphins answered with an 11-4 run to get within one point. New Haven posted six of the last seven points to pick up the set win.
Le Moyne stayed alive in the match by rallying for a 26-24 win in the third set. After the Dolphins jumped out to a 7-1 lead, the Chargers countered with a 12-4 run, which included six straight points in the middle on the spurt. New Haven pushed its lead to 21-17 before the Dolphins scored five straight points to take a one-point lead. The Chargers responded with three of the next four points to get within match point, but the Dolphins tallied the next three points to win the set.
The Chargers closed out the match with a 26-24 victory in the fourth set. After falling behind 12-9, the Dolphins tallied six of the next eight points to take the lead. The teams then traded points with ties coming at 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 23. After New Haven posted back-to-back points to get within match point again, the Dolphins landed a kill to stay alive in the match. However, following a Le Moyne service error, Kennelly ended the match with a kill.

Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) registered her sixth double-double of the season with a season-high 17 kills and a career high-tying 19 digs. Fellow junior outside hitter
Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) recorded her team-best ninth double-double of the campaign with 12 kills and a career best-tying 17 digs. Freshman right side
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) was the third Dolphin to land double-digit kills with 10, while adding six digs and three assists. Sophomore setter
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park), the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Setter of the Week, tallied her sixth double-double of the year with 46 assists and a career-high 16 digs, along with two kills and two blocks. Freshman libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) registered a career-best 39 digs, the most by a Dolphin in the last 11 years.
Kennelly led the Chargers in the victory with her triple-double of a match-high 21 kills, 26 digs and 19 assists, while adding two blocks. Rios tallied 12 kills, 37 assists and 15 digs for her triple-double. Kristen Lee was the third Charger with twin-figure kills with 12, while posting 20 digs. Devin Smith led New Haven defensively with 27 digs and four assists, while Brianna Mirmina added 13 digs and three service aces.
Le Moyne (13-5, 4-2 NE-10), which took a set from the Chargers for just the second time in nine meetings since the Chargers joined the NE-10 in 2008 (2010 being the other) and for the first time in five matchups in West Haven, returns to action next Friday at Southern New Hampshire University at 7:00 p.m.
