FRANKLIN PIERCE TOPS VOLLEYBALL, 3-1, IN BATTLE OF TOP-FOUR TEAMS

Rindge, N.H. – Katie Leidhold registered a double-double to lead Franklin Pierce University to a 3-1 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at The Fieldhouse.

The Dolphins took the first lead of the match with a 31-29 victory in the first set. The Ravens answered back with a 25-18 win in the second set. Franklin Pierce took the lead with a 25-21 victory in the third set. The Ravens captured the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

Junior outside hitter Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) led the Dolphins offensively with 13 kills, while adding six digs, five blocks and two assists. Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) tallied 12 kills, nine digs and one service ace. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) tallied her eighth double-double of the year with 42 assists and a career-high 17 digs. Freshman libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the defense with 24 digs, while classmate Molly Gallagher (Schenectady, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added a career-high 12 digs.

Leidhold led all players in the match with 14 kills and 25 digs, while posting two assists and one block. Madison Klusendorf also posted a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs. Hannah St. Jean registered 13 kills and four blocks, while Abigail Sonuga recorded 10 kills and four blocks. Hannah Runge directed the offense with 52 assists and added nine digs and two kills. Sarah MacHugh and Catherine Purdy tallied 22 and 13 digs, respectively.

Le Moyne (14-6, 5-3 NE-10), which has alternated wins and losses over its last six matches, is back in action on Friday at home against Stonehill College at 5:00 p.m.
