VOLLEYBALL SECURES FOURTH SEED WITH 3-0 WIN OVER SAINT MICHAEL’S ON “SENIOR NIGHT”

Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) recorded 16 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Saint Michael's College on Friday evening in Northeast-10 Conference play at Ted Grant Court.

With the win, the Dolphins clinched the fourth seed in next week's Northeast-10 Conference Championship. As the fourth seed, the Dolphins will host a Northeast-10 Championship match on Tuesday for the first time in the program's 20 years in the NE-10. Tuesday's matchup will be against Saint Rose, American International or Southern New Hampshire, each of which is 7-6 heading into the final day of the regular season.

The Dolphins, who have their most wins since the 2006 season (20), opened the match with a 25-18 victory in the first set. After falling behind 8-7, Le Moyne tallied 10 of the next 12 points to take control of the set. The teams then traded points the rest of the set as Le Moyne's lead bounced between six and nine points.

Le Moyne extended its lead to 2-0 with a 25-15 win in the second set. After trailing 6-5, the Dolphins three straight points to take the lead. Le Moyne steadily increased its lead to 20-14 before registering five of the set's last six points.

The Dolphins closed out the victory by taking the third set, 25-21. After the Purple Knights scored two of the first three points, Le Moyne rattled off seven of the next eight. Following back-and-forth play for the next 11 points, Saint Michael's recorded five straight points to get within 14-13. The teams split the next four points before Le Moyne scored three straight to push its lead to four.  The sides then alternated points the rest of the set.

Casson's 16 kills are tied for the third-most by a Dolphin in a three-set match over the last 10 seasons, while she added seven digs and one service ace. Freshman middle hitter Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) hit .440 en route to recording 13 kills, while posting one block and one dig. Freshman right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) landed eight kills without committing an error for a .444 hitting percentage, while adding a career-best three solo blocks. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 45 assists, the second-most by a Dolphin in a three-set match over the last 10 seasons, while posting five digs. Her 941 assists on the season are the 10th-most in a season in the program's history. Freshman libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins with 16 digs to increase her season total to 467, the fourth-most in a season by a Dolphin.

Candace Washington led the Purple Knights in the setback with 10 kills, while adding three blocks. Catie Weller led the offense by dishing out 25 assists, while Natalie Moore led the defense with 15 digs.

Le Moyne (18-7, 9-4 NE-10), which honored senior defensive specialist Isabelle Carroll (Jamesville, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) prior to the match for her contributions to the program, closes out the regular season on Saturday against Saint Anselm College at 11:00 a.m.
