Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior attackers
Erica Geremia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/SUNY Cortland) and
Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) each recorded eight points to lead the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 17-5 win over Saint Michael's College in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
Saint Michael's won the opening draw of the game and Kealy Moyna netted the first goal just 21 seconds into the contest.
The Dolphins countered with three goals over the next three and one-half minutes to take the lead. Senior attacker
Julia Suriani (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) started the run with an unassisted goal just 19 seconds after Moyna scored. Sophomore midfielder
Amari Pollard (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) converted a free-position shot with 27:49 left, while Suriani finished off a pass from Geremia 2:01 later for a 3-1 lead.
After Courtney Piper scored off a free-position shot with 24:09 left, Le Moyne scored 10 straight goals over a span of 13:56 to blow the game open. Monnat started the streak at the 23:40 mark after taking a pass from Geremia, who then found Suriani 51 seconds later for Le Moyne's fifth goal. Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) found her sister Maggie on the left crease. Claire then got into the scoring column with an extra-person goal after receiving a feed from Geremia with 20:37 to go. Geremia followed with two goals off passes from Maggie and Claire in a span of 38 seconds for a 9-2 lead. Claire then scored twice in three minutes off passes from Maggie. Suriani gave the Dolphins a double-digit lead with her fourth goal of the half off a pass from Geremia with 12:14 remaining. Pollard capped the streak two and one-half minutes later with an unassisted goal.
Piper ended Le Moyne's run with an unassisted goal with 5:38 left in the half.
Maggie Monnat pushed the lead to the halftime margin, 14-3, after receiving a pass from Geremia with 2:16 to go in the stanza.
Following 11 minutes of scoreless action to start the second half, Pollard scored off a pass from
Maggie Monnat for a 15-3 lead.
Kim Liberty got the Purple Knights back within 11 with 17:18 remaining, but the Dolphins followed with a pair of goals to take their largest lead of the game. Sophomore attacker

Maggie Monnat with 13:10 left, while Pollard scored off a feed from senior midfielder
Laura Hoffman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) with 8:36 remaining.
Melissa Jaskiewicz ended the game's scoring with an unassisted goal with 36 seconds left.
Senior goalkeeper
Molly Marbut (Edgewater, Md./South River) registered 10 saves, including nine in the second half, to earn her 25th career victory between the pipes, which ties Brandy Payne '03 for the third-most in the program's history. Pollard (career high) and Suriani each had four goals,
Maggie Monnat had three goals and a career-high five assists,
Claire Monnat had three goals and two assists in the first half and Geremia ended the day with two goals and six assists (all in the first half). Geremia's six assists are tied for the second-most by a Dolphin over the last 12 seasons, while they are the most in a half in the program's history. Grace Gunning made seven saves (against 14 goals) in the first half for the Purple Knights, while Casey Curtin stopped five of eight shots faced in the second half.
Le Moyne (4-1, 1-0 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday at sixth-ranked University of New Haven at 4:00 p.m.
