VOLLEYBALL SPLITS WITH CHESTNUT HILL AND WILMINGTON AT WILDCAT REGIONAL INVITATIONAL

Newark, Del. – Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) registered 15 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Chestnut Hill College on the second day of the Wilmington Wildcat Regional Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex. The Dolphins fell to the host Wildcats in their final match of the weekend, 3-1.

The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the match against Chestnut Hill with a 25-17 win in the first set. They doubled their lead by taking the second set, 25-21, and then closed out their seventh straight win to start the season with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.

Casson was the only Dolphin to reach double-digit kills with her 15 on .371 hitting, while adding five digs. Middle hitters Danica Durdines (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) and Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) registered nine and seven kills, respectively, with Durdines adding five digs and two blocks. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) dished out 34 assists directing the offense, while posting seven digs. Junior Maura Fay (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall) and Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) led Le Moyne's defensive effort, with 13 and 11 digs, respectively.

Madison McBride led Chestnut Hill in the loss with 11 kills and five digs. Kennedy Sutton recorded 24 assists, seven digs and three kills. Regina Trabosh posted 19 digs and Peyton Reno tallied 12 to lead the Griffins on the defensive end.

Against the host Wildcats, the Dolphins dropped their first set, 25-22. After going down 2-0 for the first time this season with a 27-25 setback in the second set, the Dolphins stayed alive in the match with a 25-17 win in the third set. Wilmington captured the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

Casson led four Dolphin with double-digit kills with another 15, while contributing 15 digs for her third double-double of the season. Buchanan picked up her first double-double of the campaign with a season-high 10 kills and 18 digs, one off her career-high. Hafoka recorded season-highs of 10 kills and eight digs, while classmate Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) had 10 kills, eight digs, four assists, three blocks and two service aces. Corcoran finished with 50 assists, the highest total of her career and the most by a Dolphin in a four-set match in over seven years. She added 11 digs, four kills and two service aces. Freshmen Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Molly Gallagher (Schenectady, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) were the fourth and fifth Dolphins to reach double-figure digs with 17 and 11, respectively.

Kaitlin DiGiacinto and Alex Siolos each recorded double-doubles to lead the Wildcats. DiGiacinto recorded team-highs of 13 kills and 21 digs, while Siolos had 12 kills, 15 digs and seven blocks. Miranda Shaw directed the offense with 40 assists and added eight digs and five kills. Shelby Henderson tallied 16 digs in the victory, while Allison Briley registered 14 dis, seven kills and two blocks.

Le Moyne (7-1), which won its first seven matches for the first time in over 27 seasons, returns to the court on Wednesday at Daemen College at 7:00 p.m.
