VOLLEYBALL SPLITS TRI-MATCH WITH ADELPHI AND MOLLOY

Garden City, N.Y. – Freshman middle hitter Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) landed 13 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Molloy College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Adelphi University's Center for Recreation and Sport. In their first match of the day, the Dolphins fell to the Panthers, 3-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up.

The Dolphins rallied from a 21-18 deficit in the first set against Molloy to take a 23-22 lead. After the Lions scored back-to-back points to get to set point, the Dolphins tallied four of the next five points to claim the set, 27-25. Le Moyne doubled its lead in the match with a 25-16 win in the second set. The Dolphins used a 10-4 run to close out the match with a 25-18 victory in the third set.

Hafoka hit at a .667 clip to register her career-best 13 kills, while also adding four blocks and three digs. Freshman right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) hit .412 en route to posting eight kills. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 31 assists, while freshman libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the defense with 21 digs.

Samira Escobar led the Lions in the setback with eight kills and 16 digs. Alley Stefanovski and Ally DeKruyf split the setting duties with 18 and 14 assists, respectively. Dakota O'Neill and Cassie Palmer registered 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

In the opening set of the day, the Dolphins fell to the Panthers, 25-19, which included a 13-2 run early in the set. Adelphi used a 10-4 run for a 25-23 victory in the second set to extend its lead to two. After the Panthers scored three straight points to tie the third set at 24, Le Moyne stayed alive in the match with back-to-back points to take the set, 26-24. The Panthers tallied five of the last six points to put the match away with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.
 
Junior outside hitter Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) registered her third straight double-double with season-highs of 15 kills and 18 digs. Miller tallied 13 kills with a .478 hitting percentage, while posting three digs and two blocks. Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) recorded her fourth double-double of the campaign with 12 kills and 13 digs. Corcoran posted 44 assists, four kills, three digs and a pair of blocks. Porr led the Dolphins defensively with 19 digs.

Shelby Stoner led the Panthers in the victory with 20 kills and a .533 hitting percentage, while adding eight blocks, four digs and three service aces. McKenna Clawson added 14 kills and four digs. Megan Manierski directed the offense with 49 assists, while posting nine digs, five kills, three blocks and two service aces. Sierra Crook led all players in the match with 24 digs.

Le Moyne (8-3, 0-1 NE-10), which snapped a three-match losing streak with the win over Molloy, opens the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday against The College of Saint Rose at 7:00 p.m. The match is the third contest in the year-long "Upstate Challenge" between the two institutions.
