VOLLEYBALL TOPS ROBERTS WESLEYAN AND CALDWELL TO COMPLETE UNDEFEATED WEEKEND

Lakewood, N.J. – Freshman right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) recorded 21 kills, six service aces and five blocks to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a pair of victories on the second day of the Georgian Court University Invitational on Sunday at the Wellness Center. The Dolphins opened the day with a 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan College and then capped the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Caldwell University.

The Dolphins started the day off with a 25-17 win in the first set against Roberts Wesleyan. Le Moyne doubled its lead with a 25-19 win in the second set. The Dolphins closed out the match with a 25-15 victory in the third set.

Sophomore middle hitter Danica Durdines (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) led the Dolphins offensively with 10 kills behind an .833 hitting percentage. Fellow middle hitter, freshman Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) added nine kills and four service aces, while Miller recorded six of her kills, five aces and one block. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 29 assists and five digs.

Courtney Taylor led the Redhawks in the loss with seven kills and three digs. Elisabeth Rivera dished out 15 assists in the match, while Rebekah Sanchez tallied a team-best seven digs.

Le Moyne jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match against Caldwell with a 25-13 win in the first set. The Cougars answered back with a 25-14 victory in the second set to even the match at one apiece. The Dolphins regained the lead in the match with a 25-22 win in the third set. The Dolphins put the match away with a 25-23 victory in the fourth set.

Miller led the Dolphins in the match with 15 kills, the most by a Dolphin thus far this season, while adding four blocks and three digs. Durdines registered nine kills, five assists and four blocks. Freshman libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 31 digs, the second-most by a Dolphin over the last 11 years, trailing only her 35 yesterday against Georgian Court. Corcoran dished out another 29 assists, while adding eight digs and three kills. Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) tallied a season-high 14 digs and added six kills.

Le Moyne (4-0), which is off to a 4-0 start for the third time in five seasons, returns to action on Friday for a pair of matches on the first day of the Wilmington Wildcat Regional Invitational. The Dolphins will take on Holy Family University at 3:00 p.m. and Caldwell University at 7:00 p.m.
