Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior outside hitter
Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) registered a double-double to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday evening at Ted Grant Court.
Pace opened the match with a 25-14 victory in the first set, which included a 6-0 run to break an 8-8 tie, to take the lead. The Setters doubled their advantage in the match with a 25-18 win in the second set, which included an 8-1 run to turn a two-point lead into a 22-14 lead. Le Moyne began its comeback in the third set with a 25-21 victory to stay alive. Trailing 17-13 in the fourth set, the Dolphins used a 12-1 closing run, including the final seven points, to even the match at two sets apiece with a 25-18 win. Le Moyne used an 8-1 run midway through the decisive fifth set to close out the victory with a 15-9 win.
Casson registered her sixth straight double-double and eighth of the season with 17 kills and 15 digs. She is averaging 16 kills and 15 digs per match in her six-match double-double streak. Sophomore middle blocker
Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) recorded a career-best 16 kills via a .355 hitting percentage, while posting five digs and three blocks. Sophomore right side
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) tallied 13 kills (her fifth straight match with double-digit kills), seven digs and four service aces. Junior setter
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 52 assists, while adding 15 digs for her team-best ninth double-double of the year. Sophomore libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 34 digs, while posting three service aces. With her 23rd dig of the match, Porr moved into 14th place on the program's career digs list with her 908th.
Sydney Lecker led all players in the match with 19 kills, while adding 17 digs. Claudia Fontanet also posted a double-double for the Setters with 16 kills and 19 digs. Kathleen Benson was the third Setter to record double figure kills with 10. Amy Vicic also recorded a double-double with 40 assists and 17 digs. Danielle Vaiano led her team defensively with 25 digs, while Samantha Marquez added 14.
Le Moyne (15-4, 5-1 NE-10), which has won five of its first six conference games for just the third time in 21 seasons in the league and for the first time since the 2005 campaign, is back in action on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against the University of New Haven.
