Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore middle blocker
Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) had a career-high 19 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Southern New Hampshire University on Friday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court.
The Dolphins opened the match with a 25-21 win in the first set by scoring the final three points for a 1-0 lead. The Penmen evened the match at one apiece by scoring the last three points of the second set for a 27-25 victory. Le Moyne regained the lead in the match by scoring seven of the last eight points for a 25-18 win in the third set. The Dolphins closed out the match by scoring five of the last six points to record a 25-23 victory in the fourth set.
Hafoka, whose previous career-high kill total of 16 came last Friday against Pace, registered six of her match-best 19 kills in the first set. She also recorded five blocks, four digs and three assists in the match. Sophomore right side
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) registered 16 kills, including seven in the second set, three digs and a pair of service aces. Senior outside hitter
Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) tallied her team high-tying 10th double-double and eighth in a row with 13 kills and 11 digs, while adding three blocks. Junior setter
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) facilitated the offense with 59 assists (the second-highest total of her career), while adding eight digs, six kills and three service aces. Sophomore libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 24 digs, while classmate
Molly Gallagher (Schenectady, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) posted 14 digs.
Marisa Coronis led the Penmen in the loss with a double-double of 15 kills and 11 digs, while adding four blocks. Victoria Wehrmann just missed out on a double-double with nine kills and 12 digs. Joanne Coffey directed the offense with 38 assists, while adding seven digs and six blocks. Kathleen Schurman led the defense with 16 digs, while Shaira Sanabria added 10.
Le Moyne (16-5, 6-2 NE-10), which has won six of its first eight NE-10 matches for the fourth time and for the first time since the 2004 season, concludes its five-match homestand on Saturday against Franklin Pierce University at 1:00 p.m.
