Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) scored early in the first half as the Le Moyne College men's soccer team defeated Assumption College, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Tuesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins, who hosted a game in the conference championships and won a game in the conference championships for the first time since the 2011 season, advances to the Northeast-10 semifinals for the eighth time in the program's 21 years in the league. The Dolphins will either visit second-seeded Merrimack College on Friday or host seventh-seeded American International College. The Warriors and Yellow Jackets meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jack Ball (Sunbury, England/Bishop Wand/Bryant & Stratton) headed the ball backwards towards the top of the goal box. Faryar settled the ball and then fired a shot into the center of the goal for his conference-best 13th goal of the season. The goal marked Faryar's sixth game-winning goal of the season. Faryar's 13 goals on the year are tied for the eighth-most in a season in the program's history, while his 28 points on the year are tied for the 12th-most in a season.
Le Moyne registered a 5-1 advantage in shots over the final 31 minutes of the half, but was unable to add to its lead.
In the second half, the Dolphins posted a 7-4 edge in shots, while each team put a pair of shots on goal. Le Moyne had the first scoring chance of the half at the 61:35 mark, but Assumption goalkeeper Brian Murray made a diving save at the left post. Just over 20 minutes later, junior goalkeeper
Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) had a diving save at the right post on a shot from inside the goal box to keep the Greyhounds off the scoreboard. The shot was Assumption's final attempt of the game.
Beaury finished the game with two saves to earn his 12th victory and seventh shutout of the season. The win is the 36th in Beaury's career, which ties him with Matthew Silva '14 and Mike Williams '97 for the second-most in the program's history, while the shutout is Beaury's 22nd of his career. Murray recorded a pair of saves in the loss for the Greyhounds. Le Moyne tallied a 13-5 advantage in shots and took 10 of the game's 12 corner kicks.
