WOMEN’S BASKETBALL REGISTERS 64-55 WIN OVER ROBERTS WESLEYAN

Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior forward Joanna Dobrovosky (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) registered a double-double to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 64-55 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Ted Grant Court.

Dobrovosky scored a career-best 15 points, including nine in the first half, pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and posted four assists and three steals. Freshman guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and junior forward Nicole Riddick (Albany, N.Y./Colonie/UMass Lowell) each tallied 10 points, while Roberts added seven assists and five rebounds and Riddick grabbed nine rebounds.

Brooke Fields led all players in the game with 20 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, while adding five rebounds. Emily Miller registered 13 points, 11 of which came in the first half, and six rebounds. Taylor Bynoe recorded nine points and a team-best 10 rebounds.

After Miller gave the Redhawks a 3-2 lead 1:37 into the game, the Dolphins scored six straight points to take the lead, which they would not relinquish. Dobrovosky hit a jumper, sophomore guard Madison Purcell (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) drained a three-pointer and then Dobrovosky converted a foul shot with 4:53 left.

The teams traded points the remainder of the quarter with the Dolphins taking a 12-8 lead into the second quarter.

Le Moyne tallied nine of the first 10 points of the second quarter to open up a 21-9 lead. Senior guard Ailayia Demand (Watervliet, N.Y./Watervliet) scored five of the points, while Riddick and Dobrovosky each made shots.

The Redhawks responded with 10 of the next 12 points to pull within 23-19 with 1:48 remaining in the quarter. Miller scored the first four points and Kindsay Brandt and Bynoe followed with three-pointers.

Roberts made a three-pointer and Dobrovosky converted a jumper off a feed from Roberts to give the Dolphins a 28-21 lead at halftime.

After the teams traded 5-0 runs to start the third quarter, Le Moyne rattled off 16 of the next 21 points for a 49-31 lead with 31 seconds left in the quarter. Purcell ignited the run with a three-pointer, Riddick scored six straight points, junior guard Ellie Leszyk (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) nailed a three-pointer and then Roberts tallied the final four points of the streak.

After the Dolphins scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to take their largest lead of the game at 54-33 with 8:56 left, the Redhawks scored the next 13 points and 19 of the next 21 over five minutes to get within four. Fields recorded 13 of the 19 points, while Miller scored the first two and Necedah James made four foul shots.

The Dolphins put the game away with the next eight points before Fields hit an off-balance three-pointer at the buzzer for the game's final points.

Le Moyne (4-1) concludes its three-game homestand on Saturday against Daemen College at 1:00 p.m.
