SOFTBALL TOPS INDIANA (PA.), 7-0, FALLS TO SETON HILL, 3-2

Salem, Va. – Junior third baseman/designated player Kelly Mascari (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Buffalo) went 3-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Le Moyne College softball team to a 7-0 win over Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon at the West Virginia Wesleyan Invitational at the Moyer Complex. The Dolphins fell to Seton Hill University, 3-2, in their first game of the day.

The Dolphins scored the only run they would need against IUP in the first inning with one hit. Junior shortstop Courtney Case (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) drew a walk to open the frame, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on a single to left field by Mascari.

Le Moyne extended its lead to three in the third with two runs on two hits. Case again drew a walk to start the inning and moved to second on a single through the left side by senior left fielder Allison Reynolds (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield). After a sacrifice bunt moved each runner up a base, Mascari singled to left field to plate Case and Reynolds.

Sophomore pitcher Alexis Eastman (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) and sophomore second baseman Tess Andrews (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) opened the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs to give the Dolphins a 5-0 lead.

Mascari added a solo home run to left center to lead off the fifth inning.

The Dolphins completed the game's scoring with one run on one hit and one IUP error in the sixth. Junior pinch-hitter Marisa DuVal (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) reached on an error by the first baseman with two outs and then moved to second on a walk by Reynolds. Junior center fielder Sabrina Riley (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) followed with a single to left center to drive in DuVal.

Eastman allowed just one hit to earn her first shutout and team-best sixth victory of the season, while striking out five batters. Lauren Zola took the loss for the Crimson Hawks after allowing five runs on five hits over three-plus innings, while striking out one.

The Dolphins struck first against Seton Hill with a run on one hit in the second inning. Andrews drew a walk to open the frame and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After an out a wild pitch, Reynolds singled to right field to drive in Andrews from third.

Seton Hill evened the score at one apiece in the bottom of the fourth as first baseman Abbey Suhoski launched a home run to left center to open the frame.

The Griffins took the lead in the fifth with two runs on three hits. Shortstop Carlee Wickstrom singled through the left side with one out and then scored on another home run by Suhoski.

Mascari blasted a home run to center to lead off the seventh to get the Dolphins within one. Andrews walked with one out and senior pinch-hitter Mackenzie Dreher (Hinckley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) doubled to center, but they were left stranded as the next two batters were retired.

Senior righty Toni Secreti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Westhill/Herkimer C.C.) took the loss in the circle after yielding three runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, while striking out two. Case registered three of Le Moyne's eight hits in the game, while Reynolds added two. Kaitlyn Kutchman earned the win in relief after tossing the final three innings, while allowing one run on five hits.

Le Moyne (11-5) closes out play at the WVW Invitational on Sunday by taking on Gannon University at 9:00 a.m.
