Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman attacker
Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) tallied six points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 14-11 victory over 11th-ranked Grand Valley State University on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
Fazio, who recorded six points for the second time in as many home games, scored four goals and dished out a pair of assists, while adding a game-high five draw controls. Senior all-America attackers
Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and
Erica Geremia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/SUNY Cortland) each tallied five points in the contest.
The teams traded goals over the opening nine minutes of the game. Fazio opened the game's scoring just over four minutes into the contest from the left side of the crease after taking a pass from Geremia, who was set up for free-position attempt. Just 35 seconds later, Erika Neumen, who tied for second in the country in goals scored last season with 75, found the back of the net for the 10th time this season. Abbie McEntee (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) tallied her first goal of the campaign. Neumen tied the score for the second time with 23:55 left after accepting a pass from Ryan Skomial off a restart. Monnat gave the Dolphins the lead for good by converting a free-position shot with 21:13 remaining.
Fazio extended Le Moyne's lead to two with 19:12 left after taking a feed from Monnat.
Skomial pulled the Lakers within one with an unassisted goal with 15:26 to go, but the Dolphins answered with three consecutive goals. Monnat started the run by finishing off a pass from Geremia in front of the net with 10:48 left. Just 38 seconds later, Geremia tallied her eighth goal of the season. Monnat capped the streak with 6:51 remaining after collecting a pass from Fazio.
Grand Valley State scored twice over the final 2:34 of the half to pull within 7-5 at halftime. Danielle Tunnell converted a free-position shot with 2:34 left and then Katie Tomlinson tallied her first goal of the season with just under 12 seconds to go.

Alexis Garbarino (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) gave the Dolphins an 8-5 lead with 27:00 left by scoring her first goal of the season from the left edge of the crease off a pass from Monnat. Just over one minute later, Fazio tallied her ninth goal of the year after cutting across the front of the net. Only 42 seconds later, she fed McEntee for Le Moyne's 10th goal of the contest. Kasi Cabrey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) completed the run by netting her first career goal off a free-position shot with 24:26 left.
Grand Valley State answered with three goals in a span of two minutes to get back within three. Kira Dosenberry started the streak with an unassisted goal with 22:18 left. Only 56 seconds later, Skomial scored her ninth goal of the year off a free-position shot. Tunnell found the back of the net again with 20:18 left to make it 11-8.
Fazio tallied her fourth goal of the contest just 55 seconds later to give the Dolphins a four-goal lead again, while Skomial answered 1:59 later with her third of the game off a pass from Chelsey Bishop.

Maddie Knapp (Watertown, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied her first collegiate goal after curling around the left side of the net and taking a pass from Geremia.
The Lakers responded with two goals in a span of 1:04 to trim their deficit to two. Carlyn Shisler scored off a feed from Skomial with 10:08 left and then Dosenberry converted a free-position shot with 9:04 remaining.
Geremia completed the game's scoring with 4:54 left by slipping a free-position shot inside the right post.

Ryan Cortese (Brewerton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) registered a career-high 12 saves to earn her second straight win. Sarah Zwilsky made five saves in the loss for the Lakers.
Le Moyne (3-0), which defeated the Lakers, 18-11, to open the 2015 season, opens Northeast-10 Conference action on Sunday, March 20 against 19th-ranked Bentley University at 12:00 p.m.
