Damian Powers (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) tossed a complete game to lead the Le Moyne College baseball team to a 6-3 victory over Adelphi University on Friday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams at Bonomo Field.
Adelphi (9-9, 0-1 NE-10, 0-1 SW) started the game's scoring in the second inning as catcher Kory Cassara drilled a one-out home run to left field.
The Dolphins took the lead in the top of the third with two runs on three hits and one Adelphi error. Junior center fielder
Donato DiNorcia (Naples, Fla./Seacrest Country Day) led off with a double to left field and senior shortstop
Dylan Swetman (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) followed with a single to right field, while DiNorcia raced around to score on an error by the right fielder. Following a groundout, senior second baseman
Brett Charbonneau (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) singled to center field to drive in Swetman.
Le Moyne extended its lead to 5-1 with three runs on three hits in the fourth inning. Senior first baseman
Pat Wright (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and sophomore left fielder
JT Pittman (Ashland, Mass./Ashland/Bridgton Academy) opened frame with back-to-back singles and then DiNorcia was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Swetman then singled to the shortstop to plate Wright. Pittman then scored as sophomore right fielder
Brian Cox (North Kingston, R.I./North Kingston) grounded out, while DiNorcia raced home on a sacrifice fly to center by Charbonneau.
Adelphi got two of the runs back on two hits in the bottom of the fourth. First baseman Robert Vani led off with a double down the left field line and then Cassara drew a walk. After a fly out and a strikeout, left fielder Alex Zykoff singled to drive in Vani and Cassara.
The Dolphins tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning on one hit and one error. Cox led off with an error, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Charbonneau, took third on a throwing error by the catcher and then scored on a single to center by freshman designated hitter

Powers earned his first victory of the season after striking out four in his ninth career complete game, while yielding three runs and scattering nine hits. Charbonneau and Swetman each had two of Le Moyne's 10 hits. Jonathon Mulford suffered the loss after giving up five runs and nine hits over four innings of work, while striking out three.
Le Moyne (13-8, 1-0 NE-10, 1-0 SW) continues the three-game series with the Panthers on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
