Liverpool, N.Y. – Daniel Khodosh rallied to win at fifth singles to give Adelphi University a 5-4 win over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Gold's Gym.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the match through the doubles competition. At the second position, Sebastian Zapata and Roey Heymann registered an 8-5 win over sophomore
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and freshman
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa). Khodosh teamed with Connor Dove to edge redshirt senior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and junior
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) at the third spot, 9-7. Le Moyne picked up its first point of the match at the top spot as junior
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) defeated Uladzislau Litvinchuk and Sander Brenner, 8-6.
The Dolphins evened the match at three apiece through the first round of singles matches. At the first position, Gayvert earned his second straight victory by defeating Litvinchuk, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). At second singles, Brenner registered a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win over Barton, while Doney tied the match at three by rallying for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win at the third spot over Zapata. Adelphi regained the lead with a 6-4, 6-4 win by Heymann at the fifth spot over Legris. The Dolphins tied the match at four as Underwood registered his fourth straight win, 6-0, 6-0, against Christopher Buckley. After dropping the first set at the fifth position against Spoor, 3-6, Khodosh rallied in the second (6-4) and third sets (6-3) to claim the victory.
Le Moyne (3-7, 1-3 NE-10) returns to action on Sunday against Southern New Hampshire University at 12:00 p.m. at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
