SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH USCIENCES AND POST ON FIRST DAY AT THE SPRING GAMES

Clermont, Fla. – Senior pitcher Toni Secreti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Westhill/Herkimer C.C.) tossed a three-hitter to lead the Le Moyne College softball team to a 2-1 win over the University of the Sciences on Monday at THE Spring Games at the National Training Center. The Dolphins fell to Post University, 2-0, in their second game of the day.

The Dolphins opened the game's scoring against USciences with two runs on three hits in the third inning. Junior shortstop Courtney Case (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) singled to left field with one out and moved to second with two outs as junior center fielder Sabrina Riley (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) was hit by a pitch. Senior right fielder Kirsten Trotta (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. Dupont) followed with a single to center to drive in Case. Junior designated player Kelly Mascari (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Buffalo) followed with a single to left to knock in Riley.

USciences cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth with one run on one hit and two Le Moyne errors. Second baseman Ashley Lewis reached on an error by the pitcher to open the frame and moved to second on a single to center by left fielder Kiersten Badzgon. After each runner moved up a base on a groundout, Lewis scored on a throwing error by the third baseman as first baseman Rebecca Colandrea reached on a fielder's choice. Badzgon was stranded at third as Secreti recorded outs on the next two at-bats.

Secreti earned her third win of the season after striking out three batters, while yielding just the unearned run on three hits. Case and Mascari each recorded two of Le Moyne's eight hits. Kaitlyn Gaynor suffered the loss after allowing two runs on eight hits, while striking out five batters.

Post scored the only run it would need on three hits in the second inning. Right fielder Emily Schaffer and designated player Marissa Wilson led off with singles and each moved up a base on a wild pitch with one out. After pitcher Samantha Esque walked to load the bases, left fielder Kristen Owens singled to left field to drive in Schaffer.

The Eagles tacked on one run on three hits in the top of the seventh. Second baseman Natalie Lennox, center fielder Korie McDonald and third baseman Kayla Kresley registered consecutive singles to load the bases to open the frame. First baseman Erica Ragazzone then lifted a sacrifice fly to center to knock in Lennox.

Sophomore righty Alexis Eastman (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) took the loss, her first in four starts this season, after yielding two runs and nine hits, while striking out seven. Esque earned her third win of the campaign after giving up just three hits, while registering one strikeout.

Le Moyne (6-2) returns to action on Tuesday against St. Cloud State at 1:00 p.m. and Edinboro University at 3:00 p.m.
