Clermont, Fla. – On its second day at THE Spring Games at the National Training Center, the Le Moyne College softball team fell to St. Cloud State University and Edinboro University on Tuesday afternoon. The Dolphins fell to St. Cloud State, 11-2, in five innings in their first game of the day and had their rally come up short in a 9-7 loss to Edinboro in their second game.

The Dolphins opened the scoring in their first game with two runs on three hits in the first inning. Junior shortstop Courtney Case (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) led off with a double to center field and moved to third on a single to left center by freshman left fielder Lauren Floyd (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). As Floyd stole second, Case stole home. Following a walk and a fly out to move each runner up a base, senior designated player Mackenzie Dreher (Hinckley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) singled to left field to drive in Floyd.

St. Cloud State answered with seven runs on three hits and three Le Moyne errors in the bottom of the first. Center fielder Abby Bunnell reached on a fielding error by the second baseman to open the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Right fielder Rebecca Harps then reached second on a dropped fly ball by the left fielder, which allowed Bunnell to score. After a walk by first baseman Jessica Goerger to put runners at the corners, left fielder Tricia DeBoer reached on a bunt single to third base to load the bases. Following a walk by second baseman Veronica Wold to force in Harps, catcher Morgan Emmans lifted a sacrifice fly to center to knock in Goerger, while DeBoer scored on an error by the third baseman. After Bingham was hit by a pitch, third baseman Taige Puetz singled to right field to drive in Wold. Bunnell completed the inning's scoring by driving in Bingham and Puetz with a single up the middle.

The Huskies added two runs in the second with just one hit. Harps walked and Goerger was hit by a pitch to start the inning. After an out and a wild pitch to move the runners up a base, Wold grounded out to the shortstop to knock in Harps. Emmans followed with a double to right center to drive in pinch-runner Brianne Hightshoe.

St. Cloud State tacked on two runs in the fourth on one hit. Goerger was hit by a pitch and DeBoer walked to open the frame. Following a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up a base, Emmans singled up the middle to plate Goerger and DeBoer.
