SECOND-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE REGISTERS THIRD ALL-TIME SHUTOUT IN 17-0 VICTORY OVER MERRIMACK ON “SENIOR DAY”

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team registered its third shutout in the program's history with a 17-0 victory over Merrimack College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The first shutout in the program's history came on April 20, 2002 in a 16-0 win at Binghamton University, while the second game in a 17-0 win at Pace University last year on April 11. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Cortese (Brewerton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore), who made two saves over the final 10:17 in last year's shutout, turned away the only two shots she faced (both in the first half) to join Erica Henderson as the only goalkeepers in the program's history to register a shutout.

Senior attacker Erica Geremia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/SUNY Cortland), who has 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) over the last four games (after having 37 in the first eight games), opened the game's scoring 1:35 into the contest after taking a pass from senior attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). Freshman attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) gave the Dolphins a 2-0 lead with a free-position goal with 25:15 left. Senior attacker Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) followed with her seventh goal of the year 37 seconds later off a feed from Geremia. Sophomore midfielder Abbie McEntee (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) netted her 12th marker of the season 30 second later. Fazio kept the quick scoring going with an unassisted goal with 23:31 left. Only 36 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Jacqueline Pardee (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) tallied her 12th goal of the season off a pass from freshman midfielder Kasi Cabrey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool).

Geremia followed with goals at the 21:37 and 21:26 marks to put the Dolphins up 8-0, with the second of the goals coming off a pass from Claire Monnat. The goal at the 21:37 mark made her the 16th player in the program's history to score 100 goals. Just 52 seconds later, Maggie Monnat converted a free-position shot for her 23rd goal of the campaign. Geremia then gave the Dolphins a double-digit lead with her fourth goal of the contest with 17:31 left in the half.

Following 12 minutes of scoreless play, Fazio finished off a pass from Maggie Monnat for her 33rd goal of the season. Claire Monnat completed the scoring in the first half with 2:25 to go off a feed from Fazio.

Pardee started the scoring in the second half with her 13th goal of the year with 27:21 left after collecting a pass from Geremia. Maggie Monnat dished out the assist on each of the next three goals. She fed Fazio with 21:00 remaining, sister Claire with 18:42 to go and then junior attacker Alexis Garbarino (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) with 11:03 to play. The third of the three assists gave her 199 points in her career, which ties Kylie Rosette '08 for the fifth-most points in the program's history.

Geremia completed the game's scoring with her team-best 36th goal of the year with 8:47 remaining. With her seven points in the game, Geremia now has 191 in her Dolphin career, the seventh-most in the program's history.

Junior defender Vicki Graveline (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) registered seven draw controls, a career-best six ground balls and a career high-tying five caused turnovers.

Le Moyne (12-0, 9-0 NE-10), which honored its six-member senior class of Geremia, the Monnat twins, Cortese and defenders Dana Anderson (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and Kayla Szczesniak (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) prior to the game, returns to action on Tuesday at Adelphi University at 6:00 p.m. in a battle of the final two undefeated teams in Division II.
