Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman first baseman/designated hitter
Nick Place (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) hit two home runs and drove in four runs to lead the Le Moyne College baseball team to a 15-6 victory over American International College on Sunday afternoon in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division doubleheader at Dick Rockwell Field. The Yellow Jackets claimed the opener, 10-9, in 11 innings.
In the nightcap, the Dolphins scored in four of the first five innings to jump out to a 10-0 lead. The Dolphins opened the scoring with two runs on two hits in the first inning. Senior second baseman
Brett Charbonneau (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) singled to center with one out and scored on a two-run home run to right center.

Trey West (Fairport, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) led off with a single to left field and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a fly out, freshman right fielder
David DiNorcia (Naples, Fla./Seacrest Country Day) tripled to left center to knock in West. DiNorcia then scampered home on a wild pitch.
After going down in order in the third, the Dolphins plated three runs on three hits in the fourth inning. Senior third baseman/pitcher/first baseman
Pat Wright (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) drew a walk to open the frame and then moved to second on a groundout. Sophomore left fielder
JT Pittman (Ashland, Mass./Ashland/Bridgton Academy) followed with a double to right field to knock in Wright. Senior shortstop/pitcher
Dylan Swetman (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) then tripled to right field to drive in Pittman for a 6-0 lead. DiNorcia followed with a double to right center to knock in Swetman.
Le Moyne scored three more times in the fifth on three hits and an error by the Yellow Jackets. After junior catcher/third baseman
Gabe Levanti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) led off the inning with a single to left, Place smacked a home run over the fence in left. Wright then walked, took second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher. West doubled to right on the next pitch to drive in Wright.
American International cut into its deficit with four runs on four hits and one Le Moyne error in the sixth inning. After a walk by second baseman

Mike Coyne followed with a double down the right field line to drive in White and Phillips.
Le Moyne got three of the runs back in the bottom of the sixth on three hits. Junior center fielder
Donato DiNorcia (Naples, Fla./Seacrest Country Day) led off with a double to left field. After a pair of fly outs around a walk by Levanti, Wright doubled down the left field line to bring home DiNorcia and Levanti. West then singled up the middle to knock in Wright.
The Yellow Jackets answered with two runs on three hits in the seventh inning. Carter singled to the shortstop with one out and then stole second and third with two outs. Starcun then singled up the middle to drive in Carter, while then taking second on a wild pitch to White, who followed with a single through the left side to plate Starcun.
Le Moyne completed the game's scoring with two runs on three hits and three AIC errors in the bottom of the seventh. Freshman shortstop/third baseman
Josiah Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) led off with a single to right center and took second on a fielding error by the right fielder.
David DiNorcia then singled to right field to knock in Gray. After a groundout, Charbonneau singled up the middle to advance DiNorcia to third, while he scored on a throwing error by the shortstop.
Walsh finished his outing with five strikeouts over six innings to improve to 5-1 on the season, while yielding four runs on four hits. West and
David DiNorcia each had three of Le Moyne's 16 hits, while Charbonneau and Place each had two hits as every starter had at least one hit and one run scored.
Jason Coscio took the loss for the Yellow Jackets after allowing seven runs on seven hits over four innings.
In the opener, the Dolphins jumped out to a 4-0 lead through two innings. They started the scoring with three runs on four hits in the first. Levanti singled through the left side with two outs, took second on a single by Place and then came around to score on a wild pitch. Wright then singled to center to drive in Place. After Wright stole second, West singled to center to plate Wright.
In the second, Pittman led off with a bunt single, stole second and then took third on a single by Swetman. After an out,
Donato DiNorcia reached on a fielding error by the shortstop to drive in Pittman.
American International took the lead with seven runs over the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. The Yellow Jackets scored twice in the fifth on two hits and two Le Moyne errors. With two outs, shortstop/pitcher
Eddie Ritch doubled down the left field line and then took third as Carter reached on a fielding error by the pitcher. Left fielder
Tyler Geffert followed with a single to third base to drive in Ritch, while Carter came around to score on a throwing error by the third baseman.
The Yellow Jackets tied the score in the sixth with two runs on two hits and a Le Moyne error. After designated hitter
Karl Kapinos singled down the left field line with one out, Phillips doubled to right center to drive in Kapinos, while taking third on a throwing error by the shortstop. Coyne then plated Phillips with a groundout.
American International took the lead in the seventh with three runs on two hits and one Le Moyne error. Ritch led off with a single to left and then Carter walked to force a pitching change. After a double steal, Geffert doubled down the left field line to plate Ritch and Carter. Following a groundout, White reached on a fielding error by the shortstop to knock in Geffert for a 7-4 lead.
Le Moyne evened the score at seven apiece in the seventh with three runs on two hits. Pittman walked with one out and then Swetman was hit by a pitch.
David DiNorcia then doubled to right center to drive in Pittman and Swetman. Following a groundout to move him to third,
David DiNorcia scored the tying run on a wild pitch.
The Dolphins regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth with one run on one hit. Levanti led off with a triple down the right field line on the eighth pitch of the at-bat to force a pitching change and then scampered home on a wild pitch.
American International took the lead back in the top of the ninth with two runs on two hits. Geffert singled to right center with one out and then stole second with two outs. White then struck out swinging, but reached first on a wild pitch to keep the game going, while Geffert advanced to third. As White took off for second, the pitcher committed a balk, which allowed Geffert to score the tying run. Pinch-hitter
Brett Bohl followed with a single though the left side to knock in White with the go-ahead run.

American International took the lead for good in the top of the 11th with one run on two hits and one Le Moyne error. Starcun singled to center with one out, stole second and then moved to third as White reached on a fielding error. Pinch-hitter
Alex LaFayette then singled through the left side to drive in Starcun.
Wright took the loss on the mound after yielding the final run on three hits over two innings. Each of Le Moyne's starters recorded at least one hit, while Charbonneau, Levanti and Pittman each had two hits. Ritch earned his first win of the season after tossing two hitless and scoreless innings, while striking out two. Coyne earned his third save of the year after retiring all three batters he faced in the bottom of the 11th.
Le Moyne (21-14, 9-6 NE-10, 4-6 SW), which snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory in game two, continues its homestand on Tuesday against The College of Saint Rose at 3:00 p.m.
