Manchester, N.H. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team swept the singles matches to defeat Saint Anselm College, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference at the Carr Center.
Saint Anselm opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. At the top spot, Eric Howes and Kyle Harris teamed for an 8-6 win over sophomore
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and freshman
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa). Adam Weinstein and Daniel Kmetz combined at the second position to defeat redshirt senior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa), 8-5. The Dolphins picked up their first point of the day at the third spot as sophomore
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) and junior
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) registered an 8-1 win over Chris Leighton and Robert Patenaude.
In singles action, Barton recorded consecutive scores of 6-4 to defeat Howes at the top spot. Doney rallied from down a set to record his second win of the season at the second position and his team-best seventh win overall, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, against Weinstein. Legris also rallied from a one-set deficit to beat Kmetz at the third position, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Spoor recorded his second straight win, 6-3, 6-2, over Brian Kavanagh at the fourth spot, while Procopio was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at the sixth position against Benji Page. Underwood closed out the match with an 8-5 win at the fifth position against Harris for his sixth consecutive victory.
Le Moyne (4-8, 2-4 NE-10) returns to the courts on Saturday at Franklin Pierce University at 10:00 a.m.
