SECOND-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE USES SECOND-HALF RUN TO DOWN 10TH-RANKED NEW HAVEN, 11-5

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior attacker Erica Geremia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/SUNY Cortland) registered eight points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to an 11-5 win over 10th-ranked University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 96 seconds into the game. Freshman attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) started the scoring with an unassisted goal 48 seconds into the contest. Just 48 seconds later, she finished off a pass from Geremia for her 26th goal of the year.

New Haven's Maya Szymanski and Fazio then traded goals over an 11-minute span. Just over one minute after Fazio gave the Dolphins the 2-0 lead, Szymanski netted her 20t goal of the year. Fazio countered with another unassisted tally with 23:43 left after picking up a loose ball in front of the crease. Once again, Szymanski responded just over one minute later by converting a free-position shot. Fazio pushed Le Moyne's lead back to two with 16:26 remaining with her team-best 28th goal of the season after collecting another feed from Geremia, but that would be Le Moyne's last goal of the half.

New Haven pulled within 4-3 at halftime as Caitlin O'Brien registered her 21st marker of the season with 2:38 remaining.

Following four minutes of scoreless action to start the second half, O'Brien evened the score at four apiece at the 25:49 mark.

The score wasn't tied long as the Dolphins regained the lead just 58 seconds later to ignite a 7-0 run. After corralling the ensuing draw control, Geremia ended up finding sophomore midfielder Jacqueline Pardee (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) for her seventh goal of the year with 24:51 remaining.

Geremia took things into her own hands to score the next two goals. She gave the Dolphins a 6-4 lead with 19:11 left and then netted her 24th goal of the season with 13:37 to play.

Less than 30 seconds after senior defender Dana Anderson (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) drew a charge near the crease, Pardee gave the Dolphins an 8-4 lead with 10:34 left after taking a pass from Fazio.

Geremia dished out the assists on the next three goals as the Dolphins put the game away. She found senior attacker Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) on the left edge of the crease for her sixth goal of the year with 9:40 to play. Geremia then fed senior attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) for her 20th goal of the year with 6:22 remaining. With the assist, her fifth assist of the contest, Geremia moved past Kylie Rosette '08 for third place on the program's career assists chart with her 80th and past Rebekah Elmer '11 for ninth place on the career points list with her 171st. Pardee capped off Le Moyne's 7-0 run with 4:32 left with her ninth goal of the campaign off a pass from Geremia.

Jessica Mazliah completed the game's scoring with her 19th goal of the year with 22 seconds remaining.

Senior goalkeeper Ryan Cortese (Brewerton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) registered six saves between the pipes, including three in each half, to earn her ninth victory of the season. Alyssa Gianotti turned away eight shots in suffering her second loss of the year.

Le Moyne (10-0, 7-0 NE-10), which has defeated the Chargers four times in the last 13 months, returns to the field on Wednesday at Saint Michael's College at 3:30 p.m.
