VOLLEYBALL RALLIES FOR 3-2 VICTORY OVER DAEMEN

DeWitt, N.Y. – Sophomore right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) landed a career-best 21 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Daemen College on Wednesday night at Jamesville-DeWitt High School.

Daemen got in the win column first by scoring the final two points for a 25-23 victory in the first set. The Wildcats scored five straight points to break a 15-all tie in the second set en route to a 25-22 win for a 2-0 lead in the match. The Dolphins stayed alive in the match by tallying the final four points in the third set for a 25-20 win. Le Moyne scored seven of the final 10 points in the fourth set to record a 25-23 win and force a decisive fifth set. The Dolphins completed their comeback victory by scoring eight of the final 11 points in the fifth set, including the final three points, for a 15-12 win.

Miller, who hit .405 in the match, registered six kills in the opening set and four kills in each of the third, fourth and fifth sets. She also recorded seven digs (one off her career high), three block assists, two service aces and a career-best 24.5 points. Senior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) tallied her second double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs, while adding a pair of service aces. Freshman Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) came off the bench to record nine kills over the final three sets, including the final kill of the match. Junior setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the Le Moyne offense with 52 assists, the third-highest total of her career, while posting nine digs and five kills. Sophomore libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 21 digs, while recording three assists and two service aces. Freshman defensive specialist Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) added a season-best 12 digs.

Amber Drzymala led five Wildcats with double-digit kills with 18 as part of a double-double with 12 digs, while also posting four blocks and two assists. Younger sister Ashley Drzymala also posted a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Courtney Scanlan posted 13 kills and four digs, Cristina Apostol tallied 11 kills, four digs and three blocks and Courtney Bernard registered 10 kills and six blocks. Bailey Dolegowski was the third Wildcat with a double-double with 52 assists and 15 digs, while Jess Kranz led Daemen on the defensive end with 20 digs.

Le Moyne (7-2), which went to five sets with the Wildcats for the third time in the last five years, returns to action on Friday against Edinboro University at 8:15 p.m. at Jamesville-DeWitt High School.
