VOLLEYBALL TOPS TWO-TIME DEFENDING NE-10 CHAMPION ADELPHI, 3-0, AND MILLERSVILLE, 3-1

Camillus, N.Y. – Senior outside hitter Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) landed 25 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to victories over Adelphi University and Millersville University on Saturday at West Genesee High School. The Dolphins opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 3-0 win over two-time defending NE-10 champion Adelphi and then defeated Millersville in non-conference action, 3-1.

Le Moyne's win over Adelphi was its first over the Panthers in nine matches since Adelphi joined the Northeast-10 for the 2009 season. The Dolphins were defeated either 3-0 or 3-1 in the previous eight matchups.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the Panthers by tallying eight of the final points for a 25-15 win in the first set, their first win in the opening set in eight conference matchups with the Panthers. Le Moyne took a 2-0 lead in the match by registering a 16-8 run to claim a 25-23 victory in the second set. The Dolphins closed out the match by scoring the final two points of the third set for a 26-24 victory.

Senior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) led the Dolphins offensively in the victory with 12 kills, while adding nine digs. Buchanan tallied nine kills and four digs, while sophomore middle blocker Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) hit .353 en route to eight kills. Junior setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 35 assists, while adding nine digs, including five in the third set. Sophomore libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the defense with 19 digs, including eight in the second set.

Melissa Rigo, the America East Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman at Stony Brook University in 2012, registered a double-double for the Panthers with 19 kills (more than half her team's total) and 11 digs. Megan Manierski, the Northeast-10 Player and Setter of the Year last season, dished out 30 assists and posted nine digs and three kills. Sierra Crook, the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year last year, led the Panthers defensively with 15 digs.

Against Millersville, the Dolphins tallied the final six points of the first set to open the match with a 25-17 victory. Le Moyne doubled its lead in the match by scoring 13 of the first 16 points in the second set en route to a 25-11 win. The Marauders stayed alive in the match with a 25-19 victory in the third set. The Dolphins closed out their ninth win of the year with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

Buchanan hit .324 en route to registering a season-best 16 kills, the third-highest total of her career. Sophomore right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) slammed down at least 15 kills for the fourth time this season with 16 over three sets played, while adding four digs. Corcoran tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 49 assists and 10 digs. Casson and Porr each registered 19 digs, with Casson's total equaling her career high, while she also added nine kills.

Erin Harman led the Marauders in the setback with a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs. Kelsi Ceriani registered 10 kills, seven blocks and a pair of digs. Grace Dawson paced the offense with 35 assists, while Katie Laughman led the defense with 16 digs.
